Gaming Laptop Question - which chassis?

Hello There,

i am looking for a new gaming laptop and cannot decide between 2 builds. They are as follows:

Chassis & Display
Recoil Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD 144Hz 72% NTSC LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i7 Six Core Processor 9750H (2.6GHz, 4.5GHz Turbo)
Memory (RAM)
16GB Corsair 2133MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 8GB)
Graphics Card
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 Ti - 6.0GB GDDR6 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1
1st Storage Drive
480GB ADATA SU650 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb (520MB/R, 450MB/W)
Memory Card Reader
Integrated 3 in 1 Card Reader (Full Size SD / SDHC / SDXC)
AC Adaptor
1 x 180W AC Adaptor
Power Cable
1 x 1 Metre Cloverleaf European Power Cable
Battery
Recoil II Series 46WH Lithium Ion Battery
Thermal Paste
ARCTIC MX-4 EXTREME THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY COMPOUND
Sound Card
2 Channel High Def. Audio + SoundBlaster™ Cinema
Bluetooth & Wireless
GIGABIT LAN & KILLER™ Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 M.2 GAMING + BLUETOOTH 5.0
USB/Thunderbolt Options
1 x USB 3.1 PORT (Type C) + 2 x USB 3.1 PORTS + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT
Keyboard Language
PER-KEY RGB BACKLIT GERMAN QUIET MECHANICAL KEYBOARD

Now my 2nd build is basically the one above just with a OPTIMUS X V2 Chassis and a RTX 2060, instead of the GTX 1660 TI.

Is it wise to go for the RTX2060? Or is the Chassis of the Recoil Series much better in terms of keyboard and weight? Why cant i chose a RTX2060 for the Recoil Chassis?

Would it be wise to wait for a while until new GPUs are released?

Also im open to any other suggestions you have, im no professional in that matter! :)

Thanks in advance

Ah oky, thanks. thats a huge argument in favor of the optimus chassis. Now the optimus does not have a mechanical keyboard right? How good is the keyboard though? Are there additional information regarding the optimus X v2? I cannot seem to find updated info on that.

No info on keyboard or on backlight I'm afraid. Only on optimus X, which has a membranenleybaord with single zone no-effects backlighting

Will PCS offer AMD in laptops?
As a mod you may have insider info!
More importantly, 4th Gen Ryzen laptops will be releasing soon and will utterly destroy intel in both performance and thermals.

Clevo are definitely releasing some, I’m practically 100% positive PCS will be, they’d be crazy not to.
Hehe hopeful that they do. Makes me regret buying my laptop in November, given the difference between AMD and Intel 9th gen

Even when gaming? And when doing stuff like homework? Why is that?
AMD are vastly superior to Intel now. They keep up in single threaded but are about double performance in multithreaded. And they cost much less.

All intels chips are based on 5 year old architecture, they haven’t improved on the design in that time, they didn’t think AMD would do as well as they have and so they just incrementally updated a poor design thinking people didn’t have any other option. Now they’ve lost so much money because AMD have taken so much business that they can’t afford to make a new design for the next 2 years.

Ah thanks guys, waiting is probably my best bet then.

How long though? What are your estimates? A quick google search made me think its taking some time, earliest ive seen was october.

It is the ryzen 7 and 9 models, right? Im a little bit confused..

So my plan is to wait until pcspecialist (or someone similiar for that matter) allows to configure wit ryzen 7 or 9.

Edit: Ok i think i figured it out. Ryzen 7 or 9 do not necessarily mean the 4000 series

You have ryzen r3 r5 r7 and r9 which are the model ranges within a series. 4000 is the series so 4700x 4900x etc etc. We're currently on 3000 series which are desktop processors.

ok thanks alot so far :)

ive did some research and should be going for the Ryzen 5 4500 or 4600 with 6 cores. I feel like everything above 6 cores is overkill.
should be relatively cheap aswell.

Please tell me if im wrong

Don't go on hunches, always wait for 3rd party reviews. No one can ever guess performance off hardware details, the ONLY way to figure a processors performance is via actual benchmarks.

i just read the first reviews for the new amd CPUs. Thanks again, since they are all very positive (so im gonna have to wait a little longer :))

Do you have any kind of estimate, when pcz will start allowing the new amd cpu for configuration? So more like 3 weeks or 3 months?

Yeah, their a breath of fresh air, especially thermals wise, just going to completely destroy Intel.

You'd have to contact PCS for any estimates, we haven't heard anything as of yet.
