Getting the Lafite Pro to work with a docking station

My new Lafite Pro arrived yesterday. :) But I'm struggling to connect it to my Dell D6000 dock. :(

The D6000 dock has USB -C (inc power delivery) and works fine with my Latitude 5400. When I plug the D6000 docking cable into the Thunderbolt 4 socket in the laptop without the mains power cable connected to the laptop I hear the "new USB device detected" tone, followed by the "USB disconnected" tone. There's no video output and no power in. However, if I am powering the laptop with the mains power cable, I hear the "new USB device detected" tone and get video output. (But this is only if I power-cycle the D6000 dock after the first step, since it seems to get into a strange state.) I'm very confused! 😖

In the PCS Downloads section there's a Thunderbolt related 10_TBT_W10.zip file. But before I make things worse I thought I'd post here to see if anyone can suggest what's going on and whether installing new drivers would help or hinder. Thanks.

Can you look in Device manager and check if you have any small yellow triangles next to anything and if you have got Thunderbolt anywhere in your device list.

Obvious question too - are you definitely using the Thunderbolt port and not the USB-C port.

Have you installed the D6000 docking station drivers on your laptop?

No problem. Glad it helped.

You’d be surprised sometimes that sometimes an easy remedy is missed. Before Christmas I was advising someone addressing issues on their monitor not displaying and we had them trying drivers, removing card etc and someone come along and said try a new cable. It worked, their old cable was faulty. Lol.

Hi, so the Dell's docking stations are compatible with other brand laptops as well?
I have a Vyper III with USB-C Thunderbolt and I was looking for a good quality docking station.

A lot of people get confused and think USB C is inherently Thunderbolt, which is not the case (until usb 4 is available).

So long as it's actively stated as a thunderbolt port, any thunderbolt dock should work.

Conversely, the Dell D6000 dock I'm using is USB-C. It's early days for me, but it seems to be compatible with the PCS Lafite's Thunderbolt 4 port.

I spoke too soon. Having worked fine yesterday evening, my PCS laptop now disconnects from the display after a minute or so. Power cycling everything seems to get it back temporarily. I did once see a warning triangle against UCM-UCSI ACPI Device in Device Manager, but that seems to be OK right now. Fairly sure I've got the right drivers now. My work Dell Latitude 5400 worked fine with the same docking station all day (and still seems to be OK).

Trying to update the docking firmware station fails as the Dell utility fails to recognise the dock - strangely on both my PCS laptop and my Dell. Scratching my head now.
