over the last few weeks I have been trying to learn how to use gimp, at first I was totally clueless, but I am slowly making progress. in the past I have used paint shop pro, and I mostly know that inside out, but since switching to gimp, I have had to relearn how to do certain things.
I'm working on something at the moment, and I am trying to adopt the same method as I did in paint shop pro, where I would work on each element of the picture in its own image file then save it as a .png file, then when I had it to how I wanted, I would reload the png & copy and paste it into the project file on its own layer. I have done the same with what I am currently on, but when I paste the external png file into a new layer on my project file, I cannot edit, move, shrink it or do anything else to it.
why am I blocked from moving any of the elements once I paste something into a new layer?
