Glossy to matte screen and 1gb vs 2gb ram on GFX card

Hi Guys,

I have just ordered a 17.3 optimus 3 laptop which i ordered with a glossy screen. I have just had an email saying there are none in stock and will be replaced with a matte one, but not the AOU screen that is available in the configure laptop options.

My question being am i right in thinking with a glossy screen colour reproduction does not need to be as fussy as with a matte, where a higher gamut would definitely be beneficial?

I am really on the fence about accepting this as a replacement at the moment and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also i have ordered a 1GB 650M, i notice there are 2GB versions available elsewhere, would the extra GB give me better performance in games or is it just mostly better for multi screen set ups?

Again thanks for any help here.

I found the video above quite helpful and I think matte is even better than a glossy screen, but check it out and decide for yourself.

As for the the GT650m, with current games, there is no difference in performance between the 1gb and 2gb versions. In the future when they release super high resolution textures you might see some benefit from the 2gb, or if you are using multiple monitors, but then the GPU might run out of power. I personally don't see a reason to buy a 2gb version for the GT650m, but it's up to you again.

I would strongly recommend the AUO matte screen if this option is available. The standard Chi Mei matte is not too bad, however the AUO matte is by far one of the most impressive panels I have had the plasure of using.

Thanks guys, i don't think i can justify paying over 10% of the total cost of my laptop just for a nicer screen though, unless pcspecialist want to give a goodwill gesture ;) lol
