Any things I should be changing? Apparently I don't need an 850w PSU but saw someone say I should have it for futureproofing

What's it going to be used for, what monitor are you using resolution & refresh rate or make and model, what's the budget & can you post the configuration link for the above build

It's going to be used for Gaming/Video Editing. I'm targeting a 1440p 144hz monitor (though will upgrade to 4K eventually) - Build costs around £2700 and I don't want it to go higher than that. Not sure how to get the configuration link for my choices cos this one takes you to the base page https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers/amd-am4-gen3-pc/1950021/

Up the ram speed and get the H115 cooler. And yeah 850w may not be needed now, but in the future, it may well be

Thanks! I would like to keep the 2TB SSD as I want to have a lot of games installed and running from it. How much difference will the faster RAM/improved water cooling make? I'm not that deep in the weeds of pushing my PC to its limits so will I notice any tangible improvements?

The water cooling will keep things cool and quiet, it’s not so much about stressing a system but giving it elbow room when you install a more intense game next year.

the memory is ideal, fast and a lot of it - usually 16GB suffices but for that build it allows high memory use games such as MSFS 2020.

it looks a good build.

shame the 500D SE are not in stock...

How soon do you envisage before you go 4K as at the moment for 1440p 144Hz the 3080 is overkill and you wont see any difference with it than you would on a 3060Ti

MrWilson

Godlike
Tweaked a bit more. The 3080 isn't worth it if you're only targeting 1440p 144hz. 3060ti will suit your current needs and then a GPU upgrade can coincide with a monitor upgrade.

Interesting, didn't consider this. I will get a 4K monitor at some point but I guess a lower end card would probably suffice for now. Any reason to go 3060Ti as opposed to 3070? Are the 3060Ti more readily available?

60ti is cheaper. If you upgrade to 4k and got 3080 anyway, the extra money between 60 and 70 would be a waste. If you plan to upgrade soon, i’d probably just overkill for now personally, but if its a fair way off i’d get the 60. The 70 sits awkwardly between the two in your situation.

Have you checked out @MrWilson build above?

Thanks for the advice everyone, decided that I'm might as well just go for 4K now and since I'll be waiting a few months for the build I will have earned some extra cash by the time I get it, which means I can buy a 4K display instead! Final build included the better RAM, Case and Cooling as suggested as well as a 3080! So I'm paying a bit more but I plan to have this PC for a very long time so it will be a great investment!

Sounds like a plan! It will be a bit of a wait but will be worth it once your beastly gaming rig arrives! :)
