GPU advice for gaming PC

Hi, I bought my son a PC with the below spec. He asked for a better GPU, and I upgrade to a 8Gb MSI Geforce RTX 5060 Shadow 2xOC graphics card this week.

However, he is saying that on games like Horizon West and ARK:Survival Evolved (Steam), the graphics still judder on the more intense scenes.

Can anyone offer any advice on what would be a better choice of GPU please to get faster graphics rendering? Happy'ish to pay more for the GPU, within reason.

Thanks in advance for any help, you will save a Dad's sanity!

Hi, he has this monitor:

I never thought about the monitor, to be frank!

I have a BENQ PD2710-T spare monitor in my office, if you believe the monitor is the issue rather than the card?

So IMHO, it's not a good idea to go under a 16GB GPU, I would suggest the 5060ti 16GB for nvidia or the 9060XT 16GB from AMD, but you'd need to upgrade the PSU to fit that

But the issue you're having may not be technically due to the GPU hardware, juddering is a little vague, but if it's stuttering on Horizon West, that could be due to graphical settings being too high, whereas of Ark it's almost certainly a server connection issue (latency most likely)

I would troubleshoot the games before swapping the GPU. Very few games are possible to run on Max or Ultimate graphics, it's not a thing on PC gaming, only for benchmarking

Start with Horizon and make sure you're optimising settings: https://gamerant.com/horizon-forbidden-west-best-pc-settings-visual-performance/
