GPU problems on my new Skyfire III

It isn't a major concern but it would appear that no matter what setting I use on the Nvidia control panel I can't get the computer to use the integrated graphics (Intel 4600) even if there are no applications running. It doesn't seem to be running as the activity monitor isn't showing anything but this could end up causing unnecessary power drain and it IS a laptop... any thoughts people?

If its on power saving does it then swap to the Intel GPU?

Nope, and once again no applications are actually running. It isn't even being used. Also it uses the Intel graphics up until I actually log in.

UPDATE: For now, after installing some drivers and Geforce experience it appears to be behaving itself. I'll contact tech support if this arises again, thanks for the response.
