Green Bar at the top of all Video's

Hi

I think I may have an issue with my video card. All video's on YouTube etc have an annoying green bar at the top. I recall having something similar on my Kobalt built laptop and the problem was with the GPU.

I tried uploading a screen shot but kept getting an error saying 'undefined'

Also my laptop is still occasionally shutting down as per this thread.

I tried the fix as I was advised and thought that had fixed the issue but it still happens maybe once every week or so.

may not be of any help but the only times i've had an issue like that (green line) was with either a gpu fault (memory) or the drivers.

if you're using hardware accelerated video playback try disabling it (in youtube i think you can right click on a video and choose there somewhere). if it's all good after that then i'd imagine you have a gpu fault maybe?

Little disappointed nobody from PC Specialist hs responded to this thread and even more disappointed that when I called Technical Support I was told I need to reinstall my OS to see if that solves the issue. I understand the reasoning in reinstalling the OS in most cases but not sure doing that will fix what appears to be a hardware related problem, in fact I am certain of it.

However if that is what is required then that is what I shall do. I had a similiar experiance with a Clevo I purchased from Kobalt last a couple of years ago. I do hope this will not be a repeat of that experience.

I have also had the same problem (green band) when playing back videos on my Optimus II with a GeForce GT 555M graphics card. I right clicked the YouTube video & then clicked on settings in the drop down menu that appeared - another box appeared & the display tab was opened showing hardware acceleration which I disabled. That did the trick for me & all videos have played perfectly since. If you have not already come across this yourself hope it works for you.
