If the RTX 2060 roughly = GTX 1070 ti, then 1660 ti roughly = GTX 1070

Prices seem to start around £260, but a lot of models are edging towards £300, and there's no point buying one for that money when you can get a 2060 for ~£30 more.

And yes, the naming scheme is fully bonkers

On the 1660 ti, it's only £22 more than a 1060 6gb at PCS's prices.

Nobody should buy a 1060 at this point, at least on this site. Either the RX 580 is cheaper than even the 1060 3gb and better than it, while the 1660 ti is way more powerful than a 1060 6gb and costs barely any more.

Not the most exciting stuff, but it's nice to see greatly improved bang for buck at the lower end with the new gen of cards despite the higher end being stagnant in that regard.
