You’d need to contact PCS about a replacement connector.

If you are in contact with the seller, you should ask them to transfer the warranty to you. It could make things a bit easier contacting PCS about it.

With this been a second hand laptop in someone else's name they wont speak to me about the laptop or specs, I've said I'll pay for the connector or for them to fix but they wont speak about it because it's not in my name

That's what I'm saying. Even if the warranty is out of date, if you can get it transferred to you i.e. get the seller to register the laptop to you with PCS, they'll be able to talk to you.

Hmm, not looking too good then, unless he's on holiday...

I would probably be thinking about a local PC repair shop at this point, if you already tried replacing the cable but it's no good.

You say the cable burnt out... when changing a drive... are there any other visible signs of damage?

I don't know the first thing about electronics or laptop repair, but something visibly burning out when changing a drive does not sound remotely normal or healthy! .. I don't suppose you had an extensive demonstration of the laptop being in full working order including stress tests before buying?
