Hello I have been granted funding intended for a new pc. In addition am interested in your all in one machine.
Can anybody provide assistance on spec?

I am undertaking a nursing degree; due to my dyslexia I obligated an award towards a pc of my choice.
I am considering the “all in ones” by means of easy, therefore taking up a reduced amount of space in my small box room lol

I would say am not a gamer nonetheless I do watch movie, TV and internet a lot (but the latter to be more on my iPhone these days)

In regards to Spec, I already have a dell xps laptop with i7core and ssd with 12 GB of ram (I upgraded myself)

It’s good however not much difference and it still crashes considering the price I paid for it yikes!!!

I approximately have a budget of about £1000 however I need to buy the unit, plus wireless mouse, keyboard and printer. Furthermore require the full 3 years warranty (but then again I am waiting to hear back, as I have can fix things myself)
I also don’t have to buy the whole computer in one place. For example I can buy wireless printer else were…

So if anyone has any suggestions please fire away

A little long winded and poor grammar I do apologise in advance

Thank you for your time and patience with this matter

Kindest Regards,

Ste

Your laptop sounds like a very good laptop. Especially if you only use it for movies and the internet (and I assume word processing).

If it is crashing a lot I suggest a fresh install of Windows. It might have a virus. My opinion is you really don't need a new PC.

You say you need the 3 year warranty? Which one? All the warranties are 3 years.

I am assuming he is referring to parts, labour and collection costs covered by 3 years, all warranties only offer 3 years labour. I had an XPS Dell laptop and experienced quite a lot of issues with heat, had to replace the motherboard after a year.

Ah right. Could he not take it back and get a replacement/refund?

I've up with this build. The need for a wireless printer and the warranty don't leave much leeway in terms of changing the specs.

Chassis & Display
PowerGlide Performer: 21.5" Full HD Multi-Touch Screen (1920x 1080)

Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i5 Quad Core Processor i5-3470 (3.2GHz) 6MB Cache (More than powerful enough for internet browsing and word processing.)

Memory (RAM)
4GB SAMSUNG 1333MHz SODIMM DDR3 MEMORY (1 x 4GB) (Again, this is plenty of RAM for what you will be using this PC for. The 12GB you said you have in your laptop is FAR, FAR too much. I meant to change this to 2x2GB as RAM works better the more separate sticks you have.)

Graphics Card
Intel® HD Graphics 3000/4000 Video Memory Technology up to 1.7GB (Integrated into the CPU. Would handle movies etc easily. Will also be able to handle some games but you said you don't play them.)

Memory - 1st Hard Disk
1TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD1002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm) (Very fast, large HDD. Not as fast as an SSD but I couldn't fit one in with your budget.)

1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
8 Speed SATA DVD±R/RW/Dual Layer (+ 24x CD-RW)

Memory Card Reader
Integrated 4 in 1 Card Reader (SDXC/MMC/MS/XD)

Webcam
INTEGRATED 1.3 MEGAPIXEL WEBCAM

Printer
HP PHOTOSMART WIRELESS ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER - B110a (£72) (Wireless printer.)

You could get yourself a very good desktop for £1000 as well. My desktop cost me £500 and is on par (maybe a tad better) than the AIO I posted above.

Cool nevertheless I must confess I do like the notion of and all in one. In the circumstance it is easier to move when at university.
24inch or 21 Am still undecided!! I would definitely need better sound capabilities as standard looks poor. I would also properly wait until a TV card option (do you know how long this will be?) as this is one of the most things I do.
When is the new version of windows out??
Does your company have access to supply certain software that I require; it’s more in relation to my dyslexia?? Like dragon and Clara read??
I have a total award of 1136.60 plus a training budget of £480 but that’s just for advice on how to use software and pc.

I have to spend all the allocated money for the pc or return the remainder, so might as well get my money’s worth.

I require a full vat receipt to give to the NHS bursary. My time frame is two months I get paid the money this Friday so there isn’t a rush and would like to pick the best within the budget :)
I would phone your customer support but with being a student and phoning 0845 numbers cost a bomb on a mobile lol

Thank you for help and support with this matter :)

If you fancy a desktop this would be a good choice, includes the tower and a good 22inch monitor, I think this will be more than good enough for ya needs. The power supply is a bit big for ya needs, however, if you ever got into pc gaming then you could get ya self a low-mid range graphics card. You can also had a tv tuner I believe, but that will bump the price up slightly. Also about the sound card, for movies you probably wont need one,

Windows 8 is not launched yet and there is currently no official launch date set. We are assuming October 2012. If you order Windows 7 now you will qualify for an upgrade for £14.99.

We cannot supply any software for dyslexia, sorry.

After you have placed the order are are happy to invoice the NHS bursary but payment will need to be made in advance with the order reference number attached.
