Hi !
I'm about to change my honored clevo P170SM with a defiance V but I have a couple questions before buying:

1) What are the differences between defiance and recoil models? Both are 17.3" and fully configurable with the same options. I guess recoil is just thinner?
2) I've seen there's little to no difference between 2060 and 2070 maxQ benchmarks, do you think it's worth gettin the latter?
3) related to the previous question... is 2060 gpu max Q?
4) Which one of the two has the best cooling system?
Last but not the least
5) Is a 180W power adapter sufficient for 2070 maxQ? I noticed there's no other option for defiance V model, while recoil has a 180W and 230W choices...

Note that the Recoil has a 2070 (not a Max-Q one)

Recoil: Dimensions (w x d x h)395.7mm x 260.8mm x 27.45mm - Weight2.5KG
Defiance: Dimensions (w x d x h)398.6mm x 268mm x 19.9mm - Weight2.5KG

So Defiance is thinner, which is why it gets a Max-Q presumably, though the footprint and weight are apparently similar.

3) If it doesn't say it is, it isn't.

4) Recoil has 2070 non-Max-Q. Hence 230W adapter.

Personally I'd go for the Recoil - though I admit I'm not in the market for one

Didn't notice the 2070 was normal in recoil... Mhhhh benchmarks on notebookcheck says that 2060 is ~15% on average slower than 2070... Not sure if the difference of 280€ between the two GPUs is justified or not... damn choices

Notebookcheck is a great resource.

It is limited by the nature of laptops, however. i.e. unlike desktops, you can only benchmark a laptop GPU in the chassis it came in. Therefore it's always possible their 2060 or 2070 scores were affected by the chassis they had on hand to test. I'm not saying that a 2070 is or isn't 15% faster than a 2060, only that it's worth checking if you're not sure in case the notebookcheck results were affected by the samples they had to work with.

Depends on the overall cost of the system, but one argument in favour of a 2070 is that since you can't upgrade the laptop's GPU, it could last you longer before you find yourself wanting to buy a new laptop.

That said, a 2060 is no slouch

I think I choose Defiance, for a ~200€ lower price I have identical specs (besides gpu), but a win 10 pro license against no license (would have to move the one I'm using now in the new laptop, and install linux in the old one, meh), and 1 year dead pixel warranty against no dead pixel warranty...
I've lived with a 8970m till now, I can live with a 2060

edit: Apparently, defiance V has no more 2060 between possible options...
