i want computer for video editing and live streaming purposes but iam not at all HW guy. i know a lot about video editing and iam huge gamer but i know nothing about HW.
what i want is huge GPU n CPU i was thinking about SLI 680s and OC Intel® Core™ i7-3960K 4.8ghz
but i know nothing about RAMs and MOBO cooling and power supply and this is where i need help. is there any better than 680s? can i use them tree together? any better CPU?
also i wanna livestreaming and my next question is that is there any device for livestreaming? something like HDPVR for PC as a card? something to replace Fraps. and allowes me to stream for example 1080p @60fps?
all this i want to have under 5000eur

thanks for help. iam waiting for advice

Hi Michael,

Although your budget of 5000 euros (£4100) is extensive, we would need to know a little more information about your requirements to adequately recommend a decent specification to you.

- What sort of storage would you require? I would recommend an SSD primary for your gaming and live streaming performance, but would you need a lot of storage for your raw video encodes? If so I would recommend RAID Stripe 3TB HDDs for storage.

As far as the other components go:

CPU: Even though you intend to do a lot of video editign and streaming I still condsider the 3960 overkill. A 3930 comes at a comfortable price and performs far greater performance in terms of price:performace ration than the 3960 does.

GPU: I currently own a 680 GTX. I can confirm that you would need at least two in SLI to max out the latest games in 60 FPS while streaming, however SLI 680s benefit hugely from PCI-E 3.0 interface, so make sure your motherboard has it enabled. I have heard that the interface has not been confirmed as enabled on x79 boards as of yet, however a driver/firmware update should eventually surface.

MOBO: As above I would recommend the X79 Sabretooth or Rampage Extreme with PCI-E 3.0 support to make the moust out of the 680's SLI bandwidth potential once drivers / firmware updates are available.

RAM: As much as you can and as fast as you can for your video editing purposes. RAM is also relatively cheap at the moment so even if you end up buying more than you need you won't be wasting that much money. 32GB DDR3 1600 should do the trick.

COOLING: Air cooling is fine, however water cooling solutions will not only keep your CPU cooler but will also be quieter... ish.

HOME STREAMING: Sorry I cannot advise you on this subject.

INTERNET STREAMING: Which service do you intend to use? Most streamers on Twitch.tv / Own3dtv / Livestream, uStream etc use programs such as FMLE, Wirecast and X-Split. This software can adequately stream 1080p video at 60 FPS on a first gen i7 970 w/ Geofrce 580 GTX at 60 FPS.

POWER SUPPLY: Although the Geforce 680 GTX has a relatively low maximum TDP compared to the likes of the 580 GTX, I would still recommend investing in an 850W to 1000W PSU for future upgrades to more power hungry GPUs (if you intend to run two cards in SLI).

... with the above in mind and given your insanely high budget and that you MAY need a lot of storage for your raw video encodes, the following spec should serve you well (please seek a second opinion before ordering!):

Thanks alot Dan

i think i will stick with 3960 coz i am not worried about overkill :) i dont need to save money i really want to spend that 5k on that machine coz i have another 2k for monitors webcam and stuff and i want this computer to have for 4+ years.
what is better? 32gig 1600mhz or 16 of 2133mhz ram? can i pack to that monster 32gigs of 2133mhz?
overclocking or not?
is possible to have 3x 680s?

the thing is that iam selling my old car for this computer. iam only trasnfering car to the machine. i dont need money coz i have good job but i dont need two cars. btw nobody wants bmw 325ci 2001 in gold meta.? just kidding

Hi Michael,

You can indeed run Tri SLI 680's but that would be utterly pointless, unless you intend to operate 2 or more screens in absurd resolutions.

If you decide to do so you should definitely opt for the Asus Rampage Extreme iv motherboard (space for quad SLI, the Twi SLI on the Sabretooth may leave you unable to use the additional USB connectors on the bottom of the board) and the 1200W gold certified PSU.

Again I urge you to put a lot of thought into your purchase; you COULD opt for tri SLI 680's over SLI and a 3960 over a 3930, but it would be money well spent equally compared to rolling 20 spliffs with £50 notes for all of the performance improvement you'll enjoy with one screen :p

I enjoyed that comparison :)

Edit: make that 20 rolls, since an additional 680, rampage extreme board, 1200w over 850-1050w psu and 3960 over 3930 will set you back another 1200 euros easily.

How many monitors do you intend to run?

You would be best sticking to the slightly slower ram believe it or not because it is more stable, the slight performance gain from the faster RAM isn't worth it in my opinion.

For a totaly over the top, best of everything PC the spec posted by dangro is about the best you can get. Having 3 680's is going to give you no noticable performance on 1 screen, hell even on three screens 2 is going to be good enough i would have thought.

Just for your info when you have 1 GPU it works at 100%, when you add a 2nd it adds roughly 50% more performance yet when you add a 3rd it only adds about 25% more performance. so anything over 2 is a waste, you would be much better saving the money you don't spend on this rig and spending it on the GTX 780's when they come out next year or whenever they are due.

I did try and make a spec, but it ended up costing less than dangro's and you don;t seem to be interested in a cheaper system so i wont bother posting it. I don't see anything more powerful than what dangro posted. You could spend more money on like a 500GB SSD or whatever, but then thats what i would start to call a waste of money....

The above is indeed an amazing spec, but it really is just spending money for the sake of it. A £120 soundcard, 500GB SSD and a pair of Blu Ray drives just stinks of wasted money to me. I understand the poster is looking to spend the money and as much as i would love the machine posted above by wolvo it's not just overkill for gaming, it's burning money for no real performance gain vs a 25% cheaper system.

Also you should probably add a wireless card to that spec to make it 100% perfect wolvo :)

Lol I know and I totally agree that 4k+ is a waste of money for a PC but he said

I thought I'd just go all in :euro:

Good catch good catch for the wireless card, we could add a bigfoot killer network card to waste a bit more money too but I was reaching the limit of the "budget" (lol).

Seriously Michael listen to mantadog you don't need to spend 5000 euros just on the PC use the money to buy top of the line accessories if you want even if you already have 2k for that .
