Hello everyone,
I just bought a pc specialist tornado r7s from ebay's clearance section, these are the specs that were posted there, but i was wondering if anyone can help me and find out more of the specifics about the SSD (is it nvme?), GPU (which brand, is it twin fan or triple fan?), the PSU, motherboard, stuff like that...any help is appreciated! I tried googling "tornado r7s" but I couldn't find anything about this product! Thanks a lot!

Have you asked the seller? They might (at the very least) be able to get you some photos?

But I can't imagine a 5800x and 3070 would be in the clearance section anywhere  They are very hard to get a hold of normally!

Sounds entirely suspect to me, there's zero chance those components would be on sale from any authorised seller so soon after release.

I have a sneaking suspicion you're being duped.

Well, i doubt i'm getting duped by Curry's? Do they do such things? (also, it has already been dispatched)

I guess I'll report back once i receive it :)
Make sure you get a warranty from Currys with it. Since it's second hand and you can't contact the original purchaser I don't think you'll be able to use a PCS warranty.

I wouldn't buy it personally. Not only do you not know its history (and I wouldn't trust Currys to tell the truth on that) but the motherboard isn't specified, and is thus almost certainly as basic as they can get away with, but neither is the PSU - which is likely to have no headroom for upgrades. Its a lot of money on what's really a pot-luck deal IMO.

It's a good deal, when you get it immediately register it with PCS, it's got 12 month warranty on, but only valid once registered.

Then I'd suggest benchmarking it fully to stress test the components and make sure everything is up to par.

But at best it will be ex-display in which case it's barely been pushed at all, at worst it will be a return from someone who changed their mind. Either way, it's an excellent deal for what are extremely hard to get hold of components, and very well performing ones at that!

There's a good list of benchmarking tools here:

And of course, give us a shout if you need a hand with anything.

Ah thank you very much for that reply, very comprehensive :) Yes it's basically 400 pounds off the retail price, which i thought was amazing.
I'll definitely test it and register it with PCS, hopefully i don't get a twin fan gpu, but correct me if i'm wrong.. it should still perform as good as a triple fan GPU, but it would make more noise, right? A good PSU would be good too. Also another question..it has a 3000mhz ram, i know that with AMD a 3600mhz would have been better, but in which scenarios will i see a difference? i play at 1440p

While the 3000 ram isn't ideal it could have been a lot worse for a pre-build. I use 3200 with no issues at 1440p :)

At least its a cheapish upgrade if it is an issue :)

That's very true!

That's very true! Actually, the CPU cooler will be more important, i think from the pictures it looks like liquid cooling?
Very curious as to what i'll actually receive ahah

It will likely be either a Palit or Zotac GPU. They're both very good. Dual fan isn't necessarily more noisy, all depends on the fan design.

But yes, pretty much any GPU these days perform quite literally within a few FPS difference of a top of the range card, the difference is very small unless you're manually overclocking.

As @Resistance100 says, good bet the cooler is a 240mm PCS Frostflow branded one. They're not the greatest, but check thermals while you're benchmarking as on that CPU it should be adequate.

3200MHz is the optimum really for gaming scenarios, 3600 doesn't offer much improvement really unless you're talking audio work or rendering / scientific workloads.

How can i check the temperatures while i benchmark? MSI afterburner will do the job? I also believe that they should cool the 5800x just fine..

HWMonitor is good as it records highest reached / lowest obtained / current temperatures - just remember to reset the stats in between benchmarks if you run more than one.

I didn’t see this reply yesterday..so how do I know if it was an ex display unit or a customer return? Should I just try and register the warranty with pcspecialist? Do I contact them over the phone to do that or is done online? Thanks guys for all your answers!
Also, I bought it because the price drop was quite huge I can still return in if I don’t like it/if there’s something wrong with it, I have 30 days to do it

Ask Currys the question about warranty before buying it. I'd want to know why it was returned too and how long the original owner (if there was one) had it.

I really don't know what PCS's warranty position is with a second hand PC being sold by Currys, but I'd want to establish that before buying. Normally PCS require the original purchaser to transfer the warranty.

I'm a tad biased though, I would never ever buy a PC or laptop second hand. You just don't know how it's been treated.
