Looking for a bit of an upgrade here. In the form of a gaming desktop as I demote this laptop to my Uni Driver. My main priority is being able to get some reasonably high settings and 60+ fps minimum. If this is possible. Price range is 1000-1500. Don't need an OS. Would like it to have some good room for upgrading in the future if possible. So make your better judgement than mine on what compromises to make. Only need the computer not any peripherals. Priority is running games at good settings. :) Your input would be greatly appreciated

On a similar slightly related note, is PCS the best online retailer to buy from not for example the one whose website name is overclocking. If someone knows the pros and cons of each that would be very useful.
Again thankyou very much for any input.

I bought my system from PCS and it was a good buy, and I've bought individual components from that other retailer and those were good buys.
I would choose to buy another system from PCS. I can't say that one is unambiguously better than the other but I would choose to buy another system from PCS. What I like about the PCS builder is the clarity and sensible selection of options. You know what PCS offer is carefully selected as the choices and it will all work nicely with each other.
None of the regular posters here would be regular posters if we thought people should buy systems from a different retailer.

Hey Slim thanks for replying! :) Read that over a few times, I thought for a moment you were saying I wasn't going to be able to get 60FPS with this budget haha. Would you help me through looking at each parts of the build, Ill try ask a few questions, sorry if they're stupid!
Is RAID worth doing? Will the power supply be enough? (Heard its a bottleneck sometimes) Does having the £5 wifi option affect LAN as for that price it seems silly not to. Which parts of the build in particular would you look at improving to avoid a bottleneck and conversely reducing without inducing a bottleneck and max/minimizing performance gain/loss.
Sorry about all the Questions! |Thanks
Oh also are there any cards coming out soon which may affect the price of the GPU

EDIT: Also my current highest FPS monitor is 60FPS so would you consider this overkill?

Raid is not necessary for a gaming system, the psu would be more than enough for the spec posted but if you want to add a 2nd gpu you could consider a 1000w psu instead. You could add a wireless card but if you are connecting using an ethernet cable, do you need it? a pair of homeplugs will provide a more reliable connection than a wireless card. For a 1920x1080 resolution monitora gtx 980 ti is overkill

You don't think convenience of maybe needing wifi is worth £5? What GPU would you recommend for a 1080 monitor then? Reckon I'd be better off getting a weaker one now then a 980Ti and upgrading to Higher in the future?

If you are not going to use it I wouldn't add one. In my case the router is next to my desktop so don't see a reason to add a wireless card. For 1920x1080 the 390x seems to offer good value offering close performance compare to the gtx 980. Is it just gaming?

How good would you say the 390X is? In terms of settings it'd support. Are AMD good for gaming
