hi, ive always just brought a laptop/pc off the shelf at well known pc shops. All i ever looked at is the processor really. so i need a pc for matched betting online, so it needs to run x4 vm's at once all of them streaming video or running slots, So i've spoke to a few people, the general gist im getting is i7 9700, 4gb ram per vm, so 32gb ram total, apparantly i need ssd??? for vm's so 1tb of that, i have no clue about motherboard, cooling, graphics card?? also didnt see anything about hdmi? im getting 2 4k screens, all help much appriciated!!!!

Also after reading a few bits on here, AMD doesnt sound as bad as first thought. All the people i spoke too/ youtube AMD vs intel vids , they all favour intel???

That’s certainly my perspective.

Save for the 3900x you can run the other amd’s quite happily off the included cooler, and the cooler on the 3700x upwards is actually a really nice cooler.

The intels, certainly the 9700k and 9900k you pretty much HAVE to use a minimum of an h100x closed watercooler, which is pricey in itself.

Plus the added features on AMD’s new motherboards including higher speed RAM (3600mhz currently being optimum) and much higher speed M2 ssd performance.

Plus even with the 9900k over even the 3600 basic, you’re only gaining a tiny fraction of advantage in FPS vs about a £400 price difference.

There’s just no contest imho. Intel sucks balls.

Also i briefly spoke to work colleague gamer, he said "you dont want that motherboard, anything with gaming in the title is shit"?? Also the graphics card he said wasnt great , and mentioned something about the RAM speed??? thanks again for any help, this is just not my expertise!!!!

Lols, ok, well then, your friend obviously knows best.

IMHO.... if anything, gaming boards are built to higher specifications because they're taking much higher stresses than most motherboards. There's a reason they cost more than a normal motherboard, plus newer tech is always released on gaming platforms first.

The graphics card is not there for any performance requirements, it's a crap graphics card in respect to gaming or rendering, of course, but you have no requirement for anything like that. All you require is multiple video outs which that card supports. Unless when you say streaming you're talking about something different? You just stated 2 4k outputs which that card will do.

By what I said about HDMI, the card has one HDMI and one Display Port.

For what you have mentioned the GPU is fine, although if you intend to use the machine for a lot of gaming you would need a better one. I run Vms on and Intel set up which was bought before AMD rejoined the the world of the living but looking at Spydertracks config I would say that is fine.

HDMI and Display Port are different ways of connecting your GPU to the monitor but it is simple and cheap enough to get an adapter to use either one.

I certainly agree with Spydertracks config but especially the faster RAM and cooling. For the future, what will you do after the free trials of Bull Guard and Office have ended? There is good free anti-virus like Avast and either Libre or open Office will do all the suf the Microsoft Office will be is free.

The Intel SSD is good but if you can push your budget a bit the WD Blacks of Samsungs are even better.

The situation with AMD is quite mad, albeit good news as well. Had you come on here a couple of years ago the odds on more than two of us recommending AMD over Intel would have been 1,000 to one or better, there was just no competition but AMD came back in incr34dible style with the Ryzen series.

If you want to consider a different board, you'd have to up to the X570 chipset as that's the only one they stock on the X470. It's certainly not a bad thing to do that, except it would likely take you over budget.

The Gigabyte X570 Gaming X is the cheapest in the range, but again, not the best motherboard.

Unfortunately price is a limiting factor.

If you're talking about just streaming video from online, then neither requires any GPU power.

People i work with have spent £3-£5k on theirs, i just can justify it. slots as in from a casino, a window pops out and the slot is spinning, different slots have more graphics or stuff happening than others etc
