Hey guys,

I have bought a GeForce GTX 1660 Graphics card as my old PC wouldn't play games (I had a basic graphics card), but the PC now won't boot (no blip no nothing, just a blank screen).

Is there anything I can set trough BIOS to get the card to run?

My motherboard is the ASUS® P6X58D-E: DDR3, USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, 3-Way SLI

Thanks so much!!

Is this a pcspecialist system? Can you post your full specs from the order page?

When you say won't boot, there's no power, or fans come on and it powers up but there's no display?

Thanks so much!

Here are the specs:

Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Processor Extreme Edition i7-990X (3.46GHz) 6.4GTs/12MB Cache
Motherboard ASUS® P6X58D-E: DDR3, USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, 3-Way SLI
Memory (RAM) 24GB SAMSUNG DDR3 TRI-DDR3 1333MHz (6 X 4GB)
Graphics Card 512MB NVIDIA GEFORCE 210 - DVI,HDMI,VGA
Memory - 1st Hard Disk 500GB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (7,200rpm)
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Power Supply 600W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU + 120mm
Case Fan (£59) Processor Cooling SUPER QUIET 22dBA TRIPLE COPPER HEATPIPE CPU COOLER (£19)
Sound Card ONBOARD 8 CHANNEL (7.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Facilities ONBOARD 10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN
PORT - AS STANDARD ON ALL PCs USB Options 6 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL (MIN 2 FRONT PORTS) AS STANDARD Modem NONE

So, what happens is that, everything turns on, motherboard, fans, fans on the Graphics Card, lights, everything, but nothing happens, the screen is blanc, and no blips, no nothing, just a blank screen and as I said, the motherboard is on, fans are on, but the PC won't boot.

If I switch the graphics card with the old one , the PC boots up fine,

Thank so much!

This isn't a PCS system, so I'm afraid we can't help, try somewhere such as Tom's hardware

Just to check. Is this a PCS build? Did you purchase it from PCS?

The most obvious thing for me is to check you have plugged the monitor into the GPU and not into the motherboard. Other than that there are many things that it could be.

Yes, it is a PC Specialist-built system, but it was bought long ago.

Thanks for your help and suggestions, sure, I plugged in the HDMI cable in the Graphics Card.

I read somewhere that perhaps BIOS settings could be tweaked to allow the card to be recognized and run.

Thanks so much!

I gather that plugging in your old GPU gets the system up and running without any issue?

Can I just check that you are plugging in any additional power cables to the 1660? I don't think it will run off the slot alone.

Could you post up a picture of it installed in the system with the side cover off? Just so that we can see how you have configured the cabling etc. Try to get it well lit and cover all of the motherboard connections as well :)

Hmmm, I watched a YouTube video and the person who installed it didn't add additional power to the card.

I did see the input for the power, but I failed to see the actual plugs from my power supply.

Sure thing, let me take a photo and will post it.

Thanks so much!!

I think the 1660 only uses one 8pin if I'm not mistaken, a picture could definitely help clear things up

Are you sure the 1660 was working before?

Hi there, it was the additional power supply, I added it (found the cables) and it works fine.

Thanks so much!!
