Ordered on the 10th, went straight to processing.

The big 40 on the 18th.

Have a guestimate!

I went with the 18th, your birthday.

As that weird girl with the eye patch once said, dreams can come true.

I ordered my new PC on the same day so it will be interesting to see whose arrives first and how long it takes in the end...
My order has been stuck on 'Processing' since day one - I wonder if that ever changes!

Ah, edmfinch, the race is afoot!

Bet you a pint I get mine first.

@matt - that pic is truly disturbing :)

@Meds - this is just a bit of fun, we/I know there are thousands of variable factors that can go into a build.

Im just excited, (for the machine that is, not for turning 40)

Happy Birthday! Looks like you will win...

Happy Birthday Frank
I was informed this morning that my PC has made it to Pre-Production but I see yours is already in Testing so it looks like you will win the virtual pint!
Be interesting to hear how it goes...
Cheers Ed.

hello all,

Crikey, so this is what it feels like to be 40 eh?

It's alot like being 16 again, except far, far worse, and with no prezzies of Lego or Action Man stuff.

Anyhoo, enough of my senile ramblings.

@edmfinch - Virtual pint? poo... :(
On a PC related note, my machine is a barebones unit, missing a lot of bits and bobs due to cash restraints, (for eg i'm going to use my ancient original Soundblaster Audigy Platinum from way back in 2001 as my sound card) so if yours is a fully fledged PC, one would assume that it'll take a bit longer to iron out any wrinkles.

@PCS, ta for the info. Being a sad old git, I check the status as soon as I wake up, so that's a nice bonus to me birthday.

@everyone else, have a piece of virtual cake one me.

The impression I get from the board is that the chaps here seem to be fairly busy with every day work and builds and so the turnaround time seems rather good imho.

I guess, we are all used to the instantaneousness of the internet and get over excited when an order takes more than a day or so to arrive.

This is the first time since around the early 90's that ive had a machine built to order rather than scratch built or just bought off Dell, so i'm actually looking forward to seeing the build quality/interior cable tidyness etc to compare.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Cant wait to play Arma again!

Hello all

well, it arrived this morning!

Well packaged and although there was some damage to the bottom of the box the pc seemed fine.

I bought a very barebones system so there was very little in the way of extras in the box. Just a mobo manual, quite a swish (if a bit basic and for beginners) PC Specialist booklet and 2 install cd's (video/mobo).

PC packaging was adequate also. No packing on the inside of the actual pc case, but again, mine had very little in it to protect.

Even though I bought a cheapo case (SILVER/BLACK TRIDENT CASE), it's actually has quite a nice build quality to it. Nothing super amazing, but better than I had imagined.

On Opening up the machine, I saw that all the cables had been squared away with cable ties which is a nice and often overlooked touch and assists airflow. Although, to power my audigy I had to undo all of the ties to get to the mini power cable, but that's my problem tbh.

Installing my own DVD drive and HDD was simple and there was plenty of spare bays.

Nice big fans in the case too, one for the CPU (huge!) and one for heat extraction. YMMV depending on what you ordered.

It's a very reasonable machine, but I think it would have been a nice touch to include spare cables/dvi adapters etc as these are parts that are often needed and usually come bundled with drives and cards and are damn useful but arent included here.

You really do get exactly what you pay for.

On the other hand my DHL delivery was bumped up to next day delivery, which was a very nice touch and unexpected.

So, far I'm a happy bunny indeed. the only faults I have with the machine are down to me and my lack of funds and so apart from the mobo/ram/cpu most of the components are not that powerful (psu, gpu, sound etc) , but as and when I have the cash I can upgrade the bits I need to.

Also, feedback here in the forums is great, and the fact that diff chaps from PCS actually join in threads and answer questions/issues is a big plus.

As long as no issues crop up (and I doubt they will) I'll be recommending PCS to friends and contacts in the future.

Happy PC'ing chaps (and chapesses)
