How concerned should I be about differences in heat and noise due to laptop thickness?

Hi,

I'm considering either an Optimus X or Defiance V (17" either way) and I have absolutely no particular need for a slim, sleek laptop. Given that, would I expect a lot more heat and/or noise to be generated by the Defiance V, which is 20mm deep whereas the Optimus X is 30mm?
