How easy is it to remove back panel and fit a new DVD/CD drive?

Hi all,

I have a PowerGlide Performer: 21.5" No Touch Full HD Screen (1920x 1080) only a few months old.
I've rarely used the cd/dvd drive, but today when inserting new Printer Software CD, the drive wasn't recognised. I tried a music CD and still not registering.
Checked Control Panel and Device Drivers and the drive just doesn't appear!!
Contacted PC Specialist Support, who were very helpful and confirmed that they would send out a new drive and that I can take the old one out and fit the replacement.

I'm ok with this, but have never taken the back off a PC, let alone take out a DVD drive and replace it.

I just would like anyone's views as to how easy/difficult this is?

Also, I have to take the drive out and pack it before the courier arrives on Monday, so I was planning to do that part this weekend. Is there any reason I can't take out the faulty drive now, put the back back on again and carry on using the PC until the new drive arrives and I fit it?

Really sorry if these are dumb questions!

I'm not sure about the all in ones but it shouldn't be too hard if it's anything like a normal computer. Maybe you won't even have to take off the back - on laptops sometimes there's a handle that pops out so you can pull out the bay, or a screw holding it in that you undo then it slides out. Might be similar on your all in one.

No reason you can't do this. Probably uninstall the bay driver first though.

If you're still stuck, ring PCS and they'll take you through step by step :)
