So I have to pay the deposit which is £4.76 then I get emailed by hiatachi saying I've approved does that mean it's on standby and it's getting built

I don't think you understand, you can't just buy any PC and it will do anything, there are hundreds of different configurations that suit different use cases.

The ones you've selected are really really poor for any kind of gaming.

We know what we're talking about. You seriously need to listen to Oussebon, he's trying to help you out.

The point of PC gaming is that it offers a better experience than console, but that comes at a cost, and what you're considering buying will offer a WORSE experience than console for around the same money.

A console would give you a better experience overall for what you're intending to do.

It was on the store tho and £612 £19. 71 monthly and is it just the cpu I need to upgrade

I would listen to Oussebon's advice, they are very good at this. You can play Fortnite on a playstation. If you do go for a PC use their build. Even then, you are being told it isn't great now - how will it be in four or five years, when you are STILL paying for it?

Wasn't there a a guy a while back who said he was only charged interest on the remaining balance after the first 12 months and came to the forum to tell us it wasn't so bad if you didn't make all the payment within the first 12 months.

Take this with a pinch of salt I am very roughly remembering this.

Give me some suggestions to upgrade it plz
Oussebon and Spydertracks have given really good advice, and none of us involved in this thread work for PCS so none of us will gain anything if you do or don't get a PCS machine, we are just here trying to give advice so you don't waste your money.

Also since you said you're at college make sure you read the finance eligibility criteria before applying (ie. are you working enough hours to qualify would definitely be one to check)

Dude if you know this little about PC's then you really shouldn't buying anything from a custom spec PC shop.

Just buy him a PS4/XB1 and a 4k TV.

The best advice I can honestly give you is not to buy one unless you can find a bigger budget.

The amount you are looking to spend is too little to get something that is really worth having, and that will be 'futureproof' / open to proper upgrades in the future.

Example:
Your brother decides to start streaming Fortnite to Twitch or Youtube. The R3 2200G you bought is okay for gaming but no good for streaming. You decide to buy an R5 2600 for £120 and replace the CPU.
... but if you had waited for a larger budget before buying the PC, you could have bought an R5 2600 instead of the R3 2200G for only £40 more. So you've actually wasted £80, and made extra work for yourself.

The R5 2600 would be more futureproof for gaming too, by a long, long way.

Likewise, the RAM. 2 x 8gb 2933MHz is only ~£45 more than 2x4gb 2666MHz. And even with falling RAM prices, you're probably not gonna pick up 16gb 2933MHz RAM for £45. So it's cheaper in the long run to buy the 16gb faster RAM because your brother will probably want that for gaming and/or other uses.

Buying cheap sabotages the PC - and sabotages your wallet too, long-term.

Ideally for a monitor for Fortnite, something 1080p 144hz. These are mostly around £200 but you can get some budget ones around £140 these days e.g.
LG UltraGear 24GL600F
EG 24" FHD 144hz 2ms Gaming Monitor
And they have Freesync, which is nice.

Spending £80 on a cheap monitor when ~£60 more to get something that could give a competitive edge and a smoother gaming experience also feels like bad value.

Plus, why buy a £500 or a £700 PC for fortnite if he's only playing 1080p 60hz? When he can already play 1080p 60hz if he wants on console.

Stretched resolution and more frames per second, this is so it runs more smoothly and you only get 60 fps on console which moves okay when playing but if you play on a 144 to 160 fps it runs smoother if you could give me some advice on this that would be helpful thank you guys

Could you shave a tenner off with the RX 570 instead?

Could you shave a tenner off with the RX 570 instead?
Fortnite has a fairly pronounced performance preference for Nvidia GPUs (Unreal 4 innit) such that a `650 seems to be better than a 570 for it. Though on investigation, not by much. So yeah, £10 to be shaved off there potentially, for not too much loss. :)

Stretched resolution

Stretched resolution is where people play on a 4:3 aspect ratio resolution on a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor.
It's like taking an old square TV image and stretching it across a widescreen TV.
In gameplay terms, that makes game characters wider and, some people find, easier to shoot.

But don't buy a PC just to play stretched resolution. No real point trying to be an elite gamer and get a competitive edge through stretching the resolution if it's a 60hz monitor with a slow response time...

It would be like buying a kid the same football boots used by their football hero .. when they don't have a football or a place to train... other things come first!

and more frames per second, this is so it runs more smoothly and you only get 60 fps on console which moves okay when playing but if you play on a 144 to 160 fps it runs smoother if you could give me some advice on this that would be helpful thank you guys
High refresh rate means the monitor is capable of showing more images per second (hz). This makes visuals and motion feel smoother because you can see movement in smaller increments.
144hz-explained.jpg

So on the left with 144hz you can see the plane at 'Position A' > B > C > D > E etc
Whereas the 60hz monitor shows less than half of that information, so you only see the Plane at A > C > E (ish)

Therefore the higher refresh rate makes it easier to track the motion of and shoot the plane.

The higher refresh rate also reduces input latency.

And a higher refresh rate monitor will, usually, have a faster response time than a cheapo 60hz monitor, or a TV.

Does that help explain?

He just told me he wanted to play on the pc because it will have more fps like am saying not just for stretched for a better quatily and a smoother game a smoother fortnite is basically over a 100 fps it's got more frames and I understand what your saying and I appreciate it for the advice I am just going to buy the gaming pc not the monitor cause as you say that's another hundred pound spent when he already has a TV so thank you for the advice and the help I'm going to get my mother to help on this with me n my brother who knows a lot about pc parts so thanks for the help guy really appreciated have a nice day x

No. Don;'t buy the PC for that reason. That's a very bad reason.

The TV is 60hz. So it can only display 60 frames per second. Doesn't matter if you run the game at 300 frames per second, you can still only display 60 of them on a 60hz TV because it can only refresh the image 60 times per second.

But the PS4 and Xbox already run the game at 60fps.

You're getting nothing from the PC.

My recommendation would also be to save your hard earned money that I'm sure you've worked hard for considering your at college and get something later down the line, maybe to share with your brother during your Uni days.

I have to wait about 5 years before I upgrade but its always worth it and with the rigs you get from PCS for about £1000 you'll be gaming for those 5 years on atleast medium settings with solid frames on most games.

Had a rig in 2012 that was an i5 and a 670 and I was blasting it with arma 3 with massive AI battles, that game tears up gpus and cpus especially, but thanks to build quality it was going for years. Save up buddy and get something that will distinguish gaming from console to PC, otherwise get a one x or wait for next gen consoles due next or the following year.

When you can afford either a. Approx 40 pounds PM or b. Have a grand on it's way, I'd come back, save yourself 50 a month and you'll have something by the end of the year? Christmas and all?
