I5 or i7 cpu

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a new computer and am a little confused about the CPU choice. I notice the I5 has the option to run at a faster speed in Ghz than the I7. Is there a significant increase in overall performance between the 2?

I need an AIO for normal home use, but with the ability for fast processing of high quality photos and videos. I am looking to spend around £1000. Any suggestions?

The i7's benefit is hyper-threading. This is mainly used for video/photo encoding, rendering etc and wont effect speed of most programmes or home use.

I would only choose i7 over i5 if the majority of your pc use is video editing. Either save the £100+ difference or perhaps spend else where like add a SSD (Awesome) or more/better ram

Rustilol is correct.

I'd only get the I7 if i was doing video/photo editing etc.

I5 is best for gaming. When i say best, you don't need the hyperthreading to game, so save the moolah.
