i7-870 or i7-950

The more I read, including this forum, the more my head spins!

I'm after anyone who can give me some straight talking advice as to which is the best, all other hardware being equal (obviously motherboards will vary, but be comparable), of the i7-870 or the i7-950??????

To a layperson, the i7-950 would be the one to go for, but what is the concensus?

My usage is photo editing and some non-hd video editing, and for two ver similar systems, but with the CPU differing, the price is practically the same........
