Sent these through to tech support no answer yet can anyone else help? ...tech specs of order included 2 seperate queries!:

Dear PCSpecialist

Hi can I also check that the radiator will be front mounted with the water pipes at the bottom of the radiator and the top of the radiator above the height of the cpu cooler please.

Thank you.

Dear PCSpecialist

Hi I hope you can help, 3 questions :

a) I'm buying this PC as I mostly play DCS flight sim which is poorly coded and uses 1 core I believe....given this is the case am I better off leaving this processor at stock rather than the 5.1 overclock as I believe it can turbo 2 cores to 5.3 ghz...I wonder what you think.?

b) On the z490 asus motherboard you are meant to be able to enable "SAM" aka RESIZABLE BAR...if the BIOS is updated....will you update the BIOS at Build as there are 5% frame rate improvements to be had here?

c) If I ammend the order and buy a 2nd SSD will windows go on the M2?

Thank you,

Kind Regards

Will Ramage

When did you send the emails and when did you order?

They are insanely busy at present and emails are taking a fair time to answer (they're never fast at the best of times). It may be, since it's a build question and if your build is some weeks away, that they won't respond until nearer the build time?

Specific radiator mounting will depend on the clearance you have in your case. I'm not intimately familiar with the specific components you've chosen and its potentially also 'at the builders discretion' but as long as the inlet to the rad is above the outlet of the pump you won't have any problems, that is always the goal and generally (certainly in the PCs I've seen from other users) pretty much always achieved.

As for the query c) in the second query - you can choose where windows is installed, PCS would default to the fastest drive you have installed currently. So if you've got a m.2 drive it would normally go on that drive.

Not sure on the specifics of points a) or b myself.

As I understand it, they will not install bios updates unless they are needed for stability or required for compatibility reasons, however I could be wrong here, might need to be asked of PCS directly (phoning is the best way sadly given their current workload).

You might want to get spec advice here, not sure if the Intel CPU is the best option for your specific needs (could be but its maybe worth asking).

As above, also if you play DCS and are looking towards single core, then you really need to read up about Vulcan API and multithreading update, also update 3.7.

2021 will bring multi core support, things such as better volumetrics (clouds etc), higher scenery packs etc require it.

There was a good update announcement interview over summer with their CEO.

I would really read up on what’s planned for DCS, rather than what is...

I think the IPC of the 5900X would offer better performance than the Intel equivalent.

Other than that....

Non-overclocked would be your best bet.
The BIOS is normally updated to any relevant security issues but I'm unsure how routinely they are actually updated. The email request should be enough to allow for this. If it doesn't happen, I would call once you receive the system for authorisation to carry out the update yourself (It's a warranty breaker without permission)
When you amend the order I believe it should ask you where you want it to go. The default selection is the M2 drive though, as it will be the fastest.

For note, 3600Mhz RAM would be a better choice when available. If you're not looking to tweak your RAM for improvements then the 3200 should be fine.

do you know if they install latest bios at least?
Only PCS can answer that definitively. I have seen others ask this question and the answer apparently was, yes. I would expect PCS to install the latest stable BIOS for each build, since flashing the BIOS without PCS approval invalidates the warranty.

I would have thought the opposite of this to be the preference? I believe that PCS normally install the way they do due to limitations but you actually want the inlet/outlet below the pump. If there are any airbubbles in the system they will travel to the top and be drawn through by the pump when orientated in such a fashion.

It's rare of course, but it does happen.

Most of the time roof extraction is preferred by PCS, which is a fine choice.

hi its poorly worded sorry but thats what im checking..the rad only fits this case on the front....

You've selected the best Corsair cooler so I think you should be absolutely fine regardless of orientation. They are normally 100% filled and sealed very well, the process is excellent now.

The request is there though so I'm sure if PCS can accommodate they will :)
