I'm thinking of buying from PC specialist I was looking at this spec, it's a home desktop used for occasional mid level gaming, browsing writing DVDs converting films and music and the occasional photo edit software. Can't really afford more than £650 but might stretch to £700 if its gonna vastly out perform the spec I chose. Thanks in advance.

I have dropped your SSD but upgraded your graphics card and case. You can add an SSD easily later and the caviar black is still a fast HDD.

In your original spec, the 6670 GPU in your spec is very much at the bottom of gaming GPUs. The spec SlickShoes posted is a much stronger gaming spec because of the better GPU.

However, in order to afford this he has needed to drop the SSD - I think given the budget an SSD is a fairly luxury item. However booting faster can be a big advantage for some people. It depends how important this is for you compared to the gaming.

I do think that you could stick to the Coolermaster Elite 311 case to save a bit of money - it should be more than adequate for your needs.

Finally I'd suggest going for the 1866Mhz RAM. It's unlikely to make a huge difference, but it's the same price as the 1600Mhz RAM.

Ok cheers another question a little of topic, can other hardware be OCed without an intel K CPU ie the graphics card?

I believe you can (though I could be wrong), however, the moment you overclock your graphics card, the warranty on it will be void, so personally I certainly wouldn't do it.

I understand it voids the warranty but there not mega bucks to replace, does anyone know what sort of improvements I could get from it by OCing and if it did eventually burn the GPU would it take the whole mobo with it ?

Depends how much you overclock it. But could be around a 30% improvement performance if you go for a high overclock. But how far you can go depends on how good the cooling is and how lucky you are with the chips in your GPU. At some point as you increase the overclock the system will become unstable and start crashing.

Overall you are unlikely to damage anything in the short term from overclocking (that's assuming you stick to the overclocking in the GPU software and don't do some crazy manual changes!) - the main risk is that you will cause your system to become unstable, and at that point you will need to lower the overclock some.

In the longer term your GPU will be running hotter which is likely to reduce the lifespan somewhat. But realistically you're likely to replace your GPU long before it dies from this.
