Inferno ... crash on gaming...

Hi chaps :)

I got my i7 Inferno on Friday and I seem to have a problem playing games. After a period of time the laptop simply switches itself off. Initially I thought it was a driver problem, but after logging the temps it appears to be the GPU overheating. It gets to 76/77 degrees for a minute or two and then packs in and switches the PC off.

Why is this happening? Is it a hardware failure or is there a BIOS setting or somekind of software option I can tick to fix this?

Thanks,

Neil

I had this problem on a similar system (albeit not a PC specialist one).

Are you blocking the vents? If not, then I would be sending it back and asking them to re-apply the TIM between the GPU and heatsink.

Thanks for the reply :)

I have done a little more digging with a gpu tester and it is running about 10' hotter than the other identical machine. It then hits 80 and switches itself off. They are sending some thermal paste out and I will reseat it, failing that it will be returned for repair.

Thanks :)
