Hey guys as some of you already know I bought my new pc from pc specialist and am very please with it, however I ordered my i7 4770 to come with the Intel cooler and the temps are not great, I bought this noctua nh-d14 cpu cooler and mx-4 thermal compound as I mentioned in a previous thread today, I just want some quick advice as to whether I can simply disconnect the Intel cpu cooler and install the noctua cooler straight into my pc with out removing parts, or will I have to completely strip the pc and rebuild it??

I am hoping I can just turn it on its side disconnect the Intel cpu cooler and connect the noctua cooler nice and easy, if not I would really appreciate it if you could please let me know.

you will need (must) install the noctua back plate mate. Idunno what case you have but hope the cpu cut out is big enough, otherwise you will need to take out the mobo and install the backplate on. then install the mobo into the case again... then install the cooler as per the instructions.

I have the same case and found the backplate obstructed by the case, have you check the side panel?

No sir I plan to look at it all tomorrow :0 starting to think I am better off just taking a chance and buying the h100i

ya I know :p Just been looking at a lot of YouTube vids and it looks so nice.

lol, yeah it does look good. However, the D14 has no chance of failing, no water risk, no grinding noise risk, its quieter and very well performing.

How ya getting on with the back plate?

I don't think it will be covered by your PCS warranty if there is a leakage, something I'd verify with PCS before adding a liquid cooler.

I suppose your right, there is just something drawing me to the h100i + surly it wont leak?? the way it is constructed is not like I have pipes running round the whole pc flooding it with water - it is self contained I believe so there should be no chance of leaking, anyway I have been to busy to look at it today so I will have to have a look at it when I get back from Canada in a few weeks.
