Ionico Control Center Fan Settings Bugged

The latest BIOS update seems to fix the issue. Please contact PCS Tech support. Lvan's solution was a temporary fix.
I found calling them to be quicker. They logged onto my machine and placed the update files onto my desktop with instructions :)
That's great news. Then the fix was faster than I thought.
Which Ionico do you have? It's an Ionico 15" with AMD cpu and nvidia 3070?

Mine has the Bios version N.1.13A04 and EC version 1.23.00.00 just like Dariusthered, so probably it's a bug from that version.
They replied from the Italian site, they sent me an update for the BIOS.

I saw on this thread a step by step procedure on how to update the BIOS but I asked tech support to provide an official one, just to be on the safe side. They told me this should solve the issue, fingers crossed!

Could you then post the official bios update instructions?
Also could you post the files name, to make sure I also receive the correct ones (last time they did a remote connection to my PC they initially thought it was a Clevo :geek:)
This isn't to be posted publicly please, any BIOS stuff needs to be done through PCS, not posted publicly on the forum. Otherwise it gives the impression it's ok to do without PCS oversight.

You can PM any information if you like.

I know. I just wanted to know the filenames and not to get the files. I wouldn't risk to do a bios update without PCS oversight because of the warranty, but since last time they confused my laptop with a Clevo I just wanted to make sure the files I receive from them are the correct ones.
But then I will PM when/if I receive any files from PCS to compare the filenames and the flash instructions.

It's just that updating the bios and EC is always something I don't like much because I always fear something might go wrong and brick the laptop.
Even thought I already did that procedure in previous laptops I had (2 Clevos), it's something I can't control and I like to make sure everything is 200% correct before the flashing procedure :geek:

I already contacted PCS team about the bios and EC update.
Once I have the files I will PM for help before flashing.
Thanks for the heads up (y)

We are keeping an eye on this, if the update works we will request people ask us for it so we can guide the, it's quite easy to do but obviously BIOS related, which means if it goes wrong it goes WRONG! Hope to have the info available for this ready to go very soon.

I've called PCS yesterday to try to get the "bios files and authorization".
I've waited for 23 minutes until i was able to speak to a human. (to be fair it was Monday, prolly the busiest for them).
got promised they will sort it out by the day.
sent the email with a photo of the bios/ec version but not received reply.

I think the easiest way is to sent them a message. I contacted tech support from my account. The next day I got a reply and the bios and instructions were sent by e-mail :)

Can i ask someone who has the 15" ionico with a 5900hx/3070 configuration to post what's the updated bios/EC controller version number please?

as to multiple emails i got a response to reinstall the control centre.
they sent me the exact same version of the control centre i already have installed.
I've also linked this thread into my email, which got promptly disregarded...this is starting to annoy me

The version we've received the laptop is:
BIOS: N.1.13A04
EC: 1.26.00.00

I'm selling refurb it equipment for around 20 years, every single manufacturer has their bioses uploaded on their website, free to download for everyone....i just dont understand why is this annoying procedure is necessary in the first place.

mod: JAKATTACK DM incoming, than you
you must then understand the diffrrence between an off the shelf and custom laptop then? No custom builder hosts their BIOS publicly.

I've got a similar problem on my intel 10875 RTX 3060 the fan is running 50-70% all the time regardless of what I do in the fan profiles I'll email PCS and hopefully they hav a fix - the noise is quite annoying.

OFF TOPIC: i think i have some understanding of your business model when it comes to physical operations, but i don't have a clue as of why the bios files cannot be freely distributed while other big branded manufacturers make it downloadable. but anyways this is heavily offtopic here.

ON: Friday update, still, no BIOS files in my inbox :(

It's not OUR business model, we don't work for PCS. If you want an authoritative answer to your question you need to talk to PCS directly.

There is a great deal of misunderstanding in general about what a BIOS actually is. Although it's firmware it is in fact logically part of the hardware - that's the main reason you require authorisation from PCS for update it. The BIOS is not 'just any old bit of software' like MSOffice or Google Earth that you need to keep updated, it's effectively part of the hardware and is not something that the end user would normally be expected to update. It absolutely does not need updating on a regular basis and should normally only be updated when there is a problem - even then a BIOS update should be the very last troubleshooting step.

In addition, as @SpyderTracks pointed out, there is a big difference between a custom build and a 'big branded manufacturer'. The big brands want the economy of uniformity and simplicity and so their BIOS code is common across their whole range, sometimes even common across ranges. A custom built PC or laptop might have a specific BIOS that is subtly different to the BIOS needed in a similar model PC or laptop with a different configuration.

This is way offtopic and i reckon this is not the place for this discussion.
I apologise for others in advance who came here to find a solution for their problems, you can skip this comment.

When i said "your", i referred to PCSpecialist and many others(xmg, schenker, tuxedo, cyberpowerpc, mechrevo) who is using chinese made ODM(Original Design Manufacturer) TongFang, Clevo and others for sourcing their laptops, rebrand, provide after sales care, support etc.

Nobody claimed a BIOS update is the same as installing MS Office so i do not understand your reply.
I update bioses on branded laptops on a daily basis as it's a part of the procedure of refurbishing laptops.
I am well aware of the risks but selling laptops with 2-4 year old bios versions is a security risk(thanks Intel) and just not considered good practice.
AND there is a clear problem here, messed up and uneditable fan-profiles which resulting in heavy thermal throttling and inadequate performance.
I'm in need of a BIOS/EC update as the fan profiles shipped with the laptop are BAD and not adjustable as it should be in the first place.
FYI: I am not a habitual BIOS updater on my own machines, almost never update bios to the newest one on my thinkpad unless i have an issue with it. Same with windows updates, let other users be the beta testers.

I'm sorry but this is just not true is most cases and i won't elaborate this time as it would be way too long. You just have to take my word of a person who does approx 1k laptop-bios updates a year.

Bottom line is:
£1.5k laptop shipped(hence passed QC somehow) with inadequate and uneditable fan-profiles which hinders usability and performance and if you read the topic i wasn't the only one.
In almost one week i have not been able to get a permanent solution.
Ranting on here won't get you a faster response from PCS. I suggest you pick up a phone and call them.

This wasn't a rant, yours was what i've replied to in my opinion.

I have phoned, they said they can't help, i should write an email.

I've emailed, they first sent back a "Control Centre" exactly the same version as i had.

I've emailed again and they said i have the newest.

So phone doesn't solve it, emails didnt since monday didnt solve it. I have the forum left.

All i would like to find out is, whoever had this bios update, what's the correct BIOS/EC version number so i can refer to it in my email, hoping that helps.

Having a childish argument with you was the least of my intension.
what did you ask for when you phoned?

Can you post your full specs fron tge order page?

What an arrogant and aggressive post. A reasonable person would, as I have advised, call PCS and insist on talking to someone who can assist. Name calling and ranting on here is not going to solve your problem.

All of you who have the problem have an AMD processor, right?

I requested a change of laptop and they have changed it for the Intel 11800K processor (I think it was this model) and on Tuesday I got it, although I had to pay more, to see if the problem is solved when it arrives. But my theory is that it only happens with ryzen 9 processors.

Hi,I am having the same issue you had with the fans spiking.

Hi there Macco.Would you be able to provide me with the working files for fan profiles,as I am also having this same issue.
Thanks in advance
Send me a DM with your order number please and I'll look into this for you :)

I am sorry I have not been able to get back to some people as quickly as I have wanted to. But I will work through all requests sent usually within 1 working day where I am able.

Happy Monday guys, let's just keep further comments for people who want the issues fixing and I will help where able.

I'm sadly not going to get involved in policy questions and things like that where possible although if I can give a satisfying answer I will.

I'm tech, I fix, I'm friendly, I don't get involved in any other politics.
