Iris xe and 4K MP4 playback

Recently I got an Iconio laptop for someome with a 12th generation processor and Iris XE graphics. The laptop will not play back 4K MP4 files in media player, VLC, media player classic and Groove. The laptop came pre-installed with Windows 11 Pro. The laptop has Grass Valley EDIUS installed for editing which also has problems playing back MP4s unless you untick the box which uses the Iris XE graphics to assist playback. Then it plays fine. This points to the Iris graphics card as the problem. Has anyone else had any issues playing MP4 files with this graphics card?
The laptop also has an nVidia 3060, 32GB DDR5 RAM a 1TB M2 Windows drive and second 2TB drive. The MP4 files are standard H.264 with AAC audio.

Just out of interest, what's the reason you want to use the XE graphics rather than dedicated?

Can you take a screenshot of the windows update page including optional updates?

I can't see a choice in any of the programs as to which graphics card to use. EDIUS gives me the option which is why I was able to turn off using the XE graphics card to help playback. As this worked I am guessing this is the problem with all the media players but I cannot be sure.
I got the laptop for someone else who now has it. However, I did do a remote session looking at various things and also updated the Iris drivers. There were no other optional updates I could see.
The current XE driver is 30.0.101.1109.

So that link above is a slightly newer driver, not sure if that would make any difference.

VLC is apparently notorious for not playing H264 very well out of the gate, you need to select a particular codec:

I wouldn't bother with Media Player or Groove, they're a waste of time IMHO.

I would suggest you'd get far better results using the nvidia card anyway.

Windows 11 has changed how to select GPU control, you now need to do it through windows display settings.

If that fails, just use the nvidia control center to set gpu usage per app, or globally as in the same link.

I tried the new driver with no difference. However, I did find something called DGPU in the laptop control panel program which was turned off. I turned it on and rebooted and it appears to have solved the problem.
I don't know of this is an Iris graphics thing on specific to this laptop but hopefully it is solved.

Is there any more information available on this laptop apart from the stuff listed on the PCS website? Is it a Clevo model and I could find out more info there? The welcome pack and booklet that came with it have no information specific to the laptop.

Many thanks for your help.

dGPU stands for "Dedicated GPU", that's the nvidia card which is what you want enabled for hardware acceleration.

Any laptop has hybrid graphics, so it runs off iGPU (Integrated Graphics) when on light processes and automatically switches to dGPU for larger tasks.

Sometimes you want to override the defaults and specify your own card.

You can find the make and model on the label on the underside, just google it along with "manual"

It says GM71DP on the back but unfortunately all google searches just seem to lead to PCs.
It's a TongFang chassis, they don't really post any information or drivers publicly, it's all with the OEM's so best to contact PCS and ask if they can supply a chassis manual.
