There were some changes made a few years ago. What classes does it say on your licnece?

I think its to do with the weight, my dad can drive a 12 tonne lorry without any special licenses, just 5 years experience

No, it is to do with the class of vehicle you are allowed to drive as stipulated on your licence.

Check the letters on your licence, and compare them with the details here, if you passed after 1997

There are some medical restrictions that stop you driving stuff as well, so if you're on a 1/2/3-year renewal for your license for medical reasons you will may find you're restricted.

I think you are in the same boat as moi Monkey.

As nik says, B is the 3.5 tonne stuff, and B1 is motorbikes if I recall correctly. :)

A and its variants are motorbikes I believe

B1 is: Motor tricycles, quadricycles and three or four wheeled vehicles with an unladen weight no more than 550 kg

I knew it was motor...cycles of some sort :D (10 years of never needing to really know they mean will do that to ya :D )
