The above is my psu. When I had my pc made I did make a note that I would like a cable ready from when I will eventually upgrade from my gtx 1080. It seemed as if I had a sufficient number of pins, which is 16. I used 8 for the 1080.

However I have seen that some cables have issues with melting. While I seem to have enough pins I am not sure if they are suitable or it they have been pigtailed and will eventually be fried

I got my pc in 2021 and I had stressed that I should be able to connect a newer gpu without worry.

Please bare in mind that I am not the most technical person when it comes to pcs. So forgive me if I have used the wrong terminology.

So yes, that uses 2 x 8pin connectors

It’s really the new 12VHPWR connector that’s the one that suffers from melting.

But it’s best practice to use 2 separate PCIe connectors, ie don’t use a splitter

Wait, so I can just attach what I have posted in the picture of the first post?
If that's the only 8pin, then you can't use both of those as that's a splitter. You need individual PCIe cables feeding the 2 x 8 pin plugs. If that's a spare so you've got 2 8pin or 6+2pin pcie cables with splitters, then yes, you can use that.

Or do you mean the pc specialist welcome box?
??? It's a pcspecialist pc isn't it? What other welcome box would I be referring to?

I found the spare, but is this how its meant to be? One of the holes looks empty.
