Is my CPU tough enough?

Put together the below spec for a gaming laptop. Only part I'm not sure about is the CPU - I've seen suggestions elsewhere that I should be looking at 3GHz+, but that's not available in this chassis.

My budget is £2k, so the alternative I've been looking at is a 15.6" Octane with an Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 for a GPU and an i7-8700 (3.2 GHz) CPU, for £1965. Will 2.6GHz be alright or am I going to end up with impaired performance?
(Any thoughts on the rest of the build welcome too)

What sort of games are you playing?

Most games are gpu bound and processor doesn’t make much of an impact.

Pretty broad mix, strategy, RPG, FPS. Currently on a HOI4 binge.

I'm not sure how much extra performance the 2080 Max-Q offers over the 2070 non-max-q. Probably not a great deal. I believe the TDP is lower.

The CPU should be fine for general gaming. I'm not familiar with specific engines like Clausewitz (the one Paradox uses for EU, HOI, CK etc) but in general you can run those games on much lower spec hardware.

I'd probably avoid the 860 QVO in preference of a faster M.2 drive.

Ok cool, thank you for the advice - sounds like my best bet is to save my money and go with a RTX 2070 & a 2.6GHz CPU.
