Is my GPU Okay?

Hi,

I have the Palit GTX970 which I've had since Friday.
I've checked online and I'm not sure whether the stats I'm getting in MSI Afterburner / GPU-Z are worrying or not as the GPU fans are getting much louder than I anticipated.

Please forgive me if this is ridiculous as I'm brand new to all this and trying to get my head around it.

This is what I'm getting when at desktop:

Power 12%
GPU Temperature 45 (C)
Fan Speed 0%
Core Clock MHZ 135
Mam Clock 135MHz
GPU Usage 2%

When running Day Z with all settings maxed i get the following (max):

Power 98%
GPU Temperature 74 (C).
Fan Speed 44%
Core Clock 1380MHz
Mem Clock 3506MHz
GPU Usage 98%

I read that the temperatures on the 970 are fairly low even on stock?

Any help will be hugely appreciated.
Thanks

well 45c is a little high at idle but it seems the fans are being turned off completely there, thats a good thing, saves power etc for a little bit of increased heat output.

74c also isn't bad for such a high powered GPU and 44% fan speed is nothing. I think my R9 280 hits a similar temperature with a similar fan speed. Nothing to be concerned about even if it went to 80% and 95c. The software knows what its doing, and there is a very little chance the GPU would overheat without doing something insane due to the safety features in place.

Great, thanks for that. Just was concerned after reading about how efficient the card is. It does get pretty noisy like a humming sound even at 40% though so I'll have to invest in a decent pair of headphones.

Have you considered that it may be another fan on the computer? It could be one of the case fans kicking in or maybe the one on the CPU?

Im pretty certain it's the GPU fans. The GPU fan is the only one that isn't spinning when there isn't a noise and like i said, when I start to ramp up the graphics I can see the Fan kicking in and then the noise starts up. I have the H80i CPU cooler and that seems to be running fine. I've even taking off some of the casing while the fans are spinning to check but they sound *or don't sound* fine. I'll deal with the noise for now and if anything gets worse I'll contact PCSpecialist.
