No, but you MUST install a new copy of the operating system once you've put your old drive in to the new laptop. You cannot run a new laptop on the operating system from a different PC.

The reasons are many, but chiefly; the operating system configures itself for the hardware platform its being installed on, so it won't run well (or at all) on a different platform. Also the device drivers installed in the kernel are specific to the devices on the original PC and may not work properly (or at all) on a different platform.

You don't need 32GB RAM for gaming.

Drop the Optane. No need for them in a machine with a fast SSD and there have been a few posts here where they've actually slowed the unit down.

If your current Windows 10 license is tied to your Microsoft account then you can use it on your new laptop (but not the old and new at the same time) - so that potentially drops the price slightly.

Upgrade to silver warranty. For a fiver it's a no brainer.

Do you really need 17"? On the one hand, granted, cooling tends to be better etc, but on the other they are huge...the 15.6" Defiances are big units so I hate to think how massive the 17's are.
