Is Octane VI supporting Quad channel RAM? Or only Dual?

I'm planning to buy Octane VI 17 inch laptop from PC specialist but I'm not sure if it supports Quad channel RAM or only Dual?

I saw that you can configure 4 x 16 GB RAM so what does this mean? This laptop supports Quad channel?

Will all of those 4 Ram sticks sit together in one corner or even if you split them into 2 places on the mother board, will you still manage to archive Quad channel on this specific laptop?

Any staff from PC specialist who can please 100 % confirm? I need to know before buying.

It’s dual channel RAM

We're not staff but we can say with certainty it's dual channel, not quad.

The CPUs only support 2 memory channels. Whether it's a 9900k (top end consumer desktop CPU) or a 9750H (-H series notebook i7)

So unless you find a laptop that has an X series CPU you're not gonna get quad channel.

I think with the Octanes, there are 4 RAM slots, in 2 different places (around the back and under the keyboard) but you can get to all of them if you need to.

Will I risk to get worse performance if I do

4 x 16 gb 2400 MHz ram

than

2 x 16 gb 2400 MHz ram

?

I was thinking more that maybe having ram on all 4 slots will put more pressure on the pc since it's meant for dual channel.

usually 2 dimms as it's dual channel.

There's no benefit to having 4 and means you can't upgrade it without buying all new dimms.

How about the difference in performance between 2400 MHz vs 3000 MHz?

Will I gain a lot by going for 3000 MHz?

And is 3000 MHz even stable for this laptop?

Yes, you can have up to the speeds that's listed.

It's worth going for higher MHz, depeniding on your uses you can see up to a 15% improvement with 3200MHz RAM over 2400.

What are you using the laptop for? What software exactly? Only gaming?

How much RAM do you think you need for this?

If you need 64gb RAM, then 4 x 16gb is okay to have

But if you don't actually need more than 32gb RAM (or even more than 16gb RAM) then go with 2 sticks of RAM (2x16gb or 2x8gb depending on what you actually need).

2 x 8gb RAM is generally preferable to 4 x 4gb RAM (for example). There's no performance advantage to 4 sticks over 2. More sticks also puts more load on the IMC.

There is usually a hit with performance using both channels (4 sticks) as the memory controller needs to process between the channels. There are some exceptions but they are rare.

As stated, always maximise the capacity across the channel for what you are aiming for (ie 2x16 rather than 4x8) as this will always leave upgrading very easy.
