I have recently upgraded my GPU from a GTX750TI to a RX460 since installing my new card I am unable to use the HDMI, DISPLAY PORT,DVI ports on both my graphics card and also my mother board however when I use a DVI to VGA adapter on my graphics card the system runs fine but if I use direct HDMI,DVI,DISPLAY PORT I keep getting no signal I have removed the card and tried using the ports on the motherboard but still nothing I have swapped the card back out to my 750TI which I know works through both HDMI and DVI but now I get no signal when plugged in I have wiped my system and put a fresh install of both windows 10 and a fresh install of the BIOS but I'm still having this problem I have ordered a new motherboard thinking it may be the board but I'm unsure about it. the motherboard im using is the ASUS A68HM PLUS and it is only about 6 months old if that can anyone help me please.

I hate to ask, but does your RX 460 require a 6-pin power connector, and if so have you plugged it in?

I only ask as the 750 ti may well not have had that.

Why the change of GPU out of interest?

no its the gigabyte 2gb version what doesnt require a power connector and i know what you mean my asus 750ti did require one basically the system runs fine if i convert the signal to vga but as im using a 1080p monitor im wanting to play my games in 1080 and because every time i try to get a signal through the hd ports it just wont work the pc powers up and everything is spinning fine im just not getting a signal.

i just decided to give the rx a try as my cpu is an amd a10 7860k and the 750 was acting as a bit of a bottleneck i found

Many GTX 750 tis don't have 6 pin connectors, while a number (though not all) of RX 460s do so I thought I'd ask just to rule it out. :)

You may want to just return your RX 460 since, frankly, it's barely an upgrade over a GTX 750 ti anyway. It's a bit better for sure, but if you bought it new for ~£90 or whatever, it's arguably not worth it for only a few FPS here and there in many games.

If it's still possible to return the GPU, you may want to do so and save up for an RX 470 at the ~£160+ mark, assuming the rest of your system supports one.

Your CPU is quite weak and may bottleneck more powerful GPUs.

I can't answer you why you're now having issues with the 750 ti. I would probably cancel the motherboard order until checking further things, since it's a lot of hassle to totally dismantle the PC (which is what installing a new mobo basically requires obviously), and it sounds like the new mobo would represent a significant expense which could instead be put to a better GPU upgrade as above - should your mobo not be faulty.

Have you tried to see whether you get any video output from the motherboard with no GPU installed?

yea i have tried that and my motherboard has HDMI DVI AND VGA outputs on it but i can only get VGA to actually display any signal from the board this is why it is bugging me as just before i purchased the 460 everything on my board was working fine then during the driver update it killed the signal and since then nothing has worked other than vga as stated before i even cleared the entire system and put both a fresh install of windows 10 on and cleared the cmos and bios and fresh installed that as well but it still wouldnt give me a display signal through hdmi or dvi the weirdest thing is if i put a dvi to vga adapter on my gpu it displays but if i put dvi native or dvi to hdmi it wont display a signal at all i have eliminated everything that could possibly be causing the problem other than changing the motherboard as all the other components i have in my system i have checked with another system and they all work fine

Do you have an HDTV or another monitor with HDMI input? If so, have you tested whether there is any output from your GPUs or motherboard via HDMI to that?

What monitor are you using?

If you've been trying your PC with both Nvidia and AMD GPUs, have you been doing this with both AMD and Nvidia drivers installed at the same time?

i have eliminated everything that could possibly be causing the problem other than changing the motherboard
I'm sorry, but I don't think you have. I do think there's possibly still scope for driver or settigs issues, potentially a driver or a settings problem that occurred when you installed the new GPU, and that wasn't resolved by a clean install - especially if you've been trying the system with both Nvidia and AMD GPUs in it

If a new motherboard did fix it it's also possible that some kind of update that happens as a result of the change resolving the issue rather than the hardware change itself. I'm not sure your motherboard would stop your GPU from being able to transmit anything other than VGA, especially if the monitor accepts VGA input from the DVI output with an adapter. It sounds a bit like the monitor is only accepting analogue input.

If you haven't already, you could try using DDU http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html to remove ALL graphics drivers from your PC, and then perform a clean installation of only the GPU drivers for the card you have installed (perhaps stick with the GTX 750 ti since you know that was working in your PC).

UPDATE ive replaced the motherboard with a brand new one and everything is working fine now ive taken the board to my local pc repair store and he has tested the ports and says there is no power going to HDMI or DVI ports on the motherboard so something has shorted them out. he also tested my PSU to make sure there wasnt a fault with that that may have caused it and it has been given the all clear so im unsure as to what caused the short i just guess it was a faulty board in the end.
