well i have a strange pop up happening all the time "please update java". this is happening when i click somewhere or try to access another page when visiting websites. i have ran all my virus and spyware checks etc and its still happening. my java is up to date i believe.

how can i get rid of this? i saw a video on youtube showing you how by going in the regedit and deleting things. but it was using explorer and i use chrome so i all the things he done are not able to be done exactly the same on my machine so i didnt do any of it.

can anyone advise me?

Sounds like an ad, I've seen it on certain streaming sites. Java has it's own updater, search "c:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javacpl.exe" for 64 bit or "c:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javacpl.exe" for 32 bit without the quotes and you'll find it, click update tab and update now to make sure you are up to date. Next time you see it check your firewall logs and block the IP connection or if it's malware you'll need to remove it.

This may be of some use to you.

It's very easy to check that you really do have the latest version of Java installed. Visit http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp and follow the prompts, it will check your installed version of Java and allow you to download the latest version if you don't have it. As has been said, Java has it's own updater so you will occasionally see Java update messages. If you are ever in doubt about the validity of these messages simply visit http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp and check your installed version.

Never install a version of Java from anywhere other than http://java.com and it's usually wise to temporarily disable your real-time anti-virus whilst installing any software. It's not unusual for your anti-virus to block all or part of an install leaving you with an improperly installed product.
