Greetings! I just made my first order from PCS and this is my very first PC since childhood. I've only previously owned laptops and i'm very very hyped! I've checked the Desktop Building Guide - Sept 2020 guide that is posted here and made a few adjustments. I will primarily use it for gaming and some video editing. I am working in CAD but rarerly from home, but i am learning Blender atm and would love to know if this will be a good investment for my future (maybe no too distant) 3D animation work and skilful gaming. :D I have a 144hz 1080p monitor, but i am planning on upgrading in the future as monitors are more easy to come by in my country and i wanted my pc to be ready. Fully agreed with the above, the 5800x is quite a major improvement and well worth the additional cost.

Other than that though, it's spot on.

The 5800x was on pre order only. Will the delivery before Christmas still be guaranteed? I didn't know the 3800XT was 2 years old. When i checked it's release date, it said it released this year. I also checked some cpu benchmarks, and reviews, and although i'm no expert, it didn't seem to be a bad cpu.

The 3800XT is just an overclocked 3800x, it's exactly the same processor which was released late in the 3000 series cycle which was early 2019. It was a good processor back then, but the 5000 series are substantially better.

No idea when they're expected to arrive in stock, but I wouldn't sacrifice a 7 - 10 year investment on being delivered by Christmas.

Thank you very much for your replies and everyone else's. I will contact them and make the switch. Although i am gonna feel so empty if it doesn't arrive before Christmas. =(

Sorry, I realise after some thought that I'm not qualified to understand the pressures of appeasing perhaps younger ones at Christmas time, I don't have kids and we've kind of cancelled christmas this year until perhaps next march when we can get out and see people again, but I realise not everyone is in that position.

If you absolutely have to have it by Christmas, I'd reduce the processor to the 3800x, the XT was a bit of a non event, it was only a slight overclock but didn't give any meaningful performance improvement over the standard chip, yet had a substantial markup in price:

The 3800x is still a very capable processor and will be for years to come.

If it were me, I wouldn't make the compromise, but I realise not everyone is looking for cutting edge.

Just as an additional, you could happily reduce the cooler to the H100i Platinum (if it's available), would be ample for either the 3800x or the 5800x.
