Keyboard problem with my Enigma II

Hi,

I bought this laptop about a month ago, a few details:

Intel i5 cpu
4GB Ram
Ati Radeon 5650
Win 7 Proffessional

Now here's the problem, when I'm just generally typing(MS Word, google, forums etc). It seems the keyboard has a mind of its own and does random stuff. Sometimes when I'm typing it'll randomly just stop, and i'll have to click on the box again, this typically happens when I start typing in a search box but the page hasn't 100% loaded and it'll just stop.

The more annoying problem is when I'm just generally typing and the cursor will just switch to the middle, so e.g if it happened at this time at the end of the word cursor my sentence would look like this.

It's a odd but irritating problem, all my drivers and my windows drivers are updated, so I don't really know what to do :S

Irritating indeed.... Have you tried scanning for viruses first? Can you check if the problem persists while using another keyboard? (usb one e.g.)

P.S.
I had a similar problem, but it was due to moving the base of my palm over the touch-pad while typing... heh

Plagued by Keyboard Issues

I am experiencing similar problems on my Enigma II. At first it was bearable: just the odd help page popping up as if you were pressing F1 but now it is unusable. It inserts = signs everywhere switches caps lock on after every second letter I type and sometimes repeats key presses infinitely. It has deteriorated to the degree that it is extremely frustrating. It is unusable and unbearable and I am very disappointed. The error is most definitely a hardware issue as I have tried many external keyboards and they also work perfectly. This led me to believe it was a driver issue so I booted up linux off a pendrive and I was also plagued with problems there in an environment completely separate from Windows

I would like to know what PC Specialist propose to do about this for me?

Before this happened I was extremely happy with my laptop but considering it is less than a month old I find this unacceptable especially if more than on person is experiencing this problem.

Thanks, Craig

If the above doesnt work id suggest calling tech support ont his one to avoid forum tennis as this seems likely to be a very long game indeed ;) Theyll advise you on any fixes, otherwise theyll replace the keyboard for you. Number: 0844 499 4000

Please can you try turning your touchpad off when typing, as it's a quite common issue that can occur. Each customer that has called us has resolved their issue after disabling the touchpad when typing documents.

No - you just need to press the button when typing to disable the touchpad. Things like your jumper sliding over the touchpad when typing can cause this, it's perfectly normal, hence the button that's put there to quickly disable it.
