Keyboard suddenly not working

Hi so my laptop has been perfectly fine (its the pc recoil II series) and then as ive cone to it today the keyboard is suddenly i'snt working out lighting up.
i haven't spilt anything onto the laptop or damaged it.
What you recommend me do?
If i navigate to the drivers for the keyboard it says this device is working properly and i'm unable to update/uninstall the drivers

Is this a PC Specialist build? Can you post the full specs from the order page please.

Thanks.

Was is powered off before you noticed the keyboard issue? Was it hibernated?

Were there any Windows updates immediately prior to this problem.

Did you make any other changes immediately prior to this problem?

It's possible that the keyboard just stopped working but it's most unlikely. It's more likely that something else has changed to cause this.

The laptop was turned off im pretty sure but may of been in hibernation mode as this is how i normally leave it.

There's been a recent windows update i installed a few nights ago
June 9, 2020—KB4560960 (OS Builds 18362.900 and 18363.900)
Oh and actually theres an update for me to do now, so ive started updating it.

Nope i was working within blender and Cad with ods so nothing other than that.

It's possibly a hibernate glitch then. Shut it down so it powers off. Then remove the battery and the charger. Hold down the ON button for about 60 seconds - nothing exciting will happen, this is a soft reset.

Leave the battery out, plug in the charger and boot. Does they keyboard work now? If so shutdown, insert the battery, unplug the charger and ensure its OK on battery.

If that doesn't help the next thing to suspect is the Windows update. Was this a big one that required a couple of reboots by any chance?

I edited my previous response but there is currently an update available on my laptop ive started to install but after this ill give the shutdown bit ago.
I dont think it restarted it was an update that happened when i was shutting down my laptop, it said "update and shutdown"

So i disconnected the battery from the main board, held down the power button too and this hasnt fixed the issue, neither did the new windows update
OK. Try booting the Windows installation media (DVD or USB stick) and see whether the keyboard functions using that. If it does your problem is a Windows issue, it it doesn't it's most likely a hardware issue.

That would worry me. If it happens again boot the Windows install media and see whether it works then.

So i just turned my laptop off and on again and yes the keyboard is no longer working again so you say to use the Windows install media?

You're right. Without a keyboard you can't. This does rather sound more like a hardware issue since it comes and goes. I'd give PCS a call...

I have started having the exact same problem in the past week, I left messages for the support team and the only help i got was them saying if you're confident enough take the machine apart and unplug/plugin the keyboard ribbon cable sure that fixed it bit they basically offered no help with the laptop they may have built poorly and the problem keeps coming back it isn't a permanent fix.

If there are two builds with the same issue then PCS definitely need to know. PCS don't fit the keyboard, it comes with the chassis that they buy in. Phone PCS today and direct them to this thread.
