Lafite III 13.3" USB C Issues

Hi all,

I recently bought a used Lafite iii 13 inch from a second hand shop. I have tested all of the features and all of them work, apart from the USB type c port. The shop it was bought from had just done a generic windows 10 reset which took all of the drivers off with it! I believe this is the cause to my problem. I have looked but I can't find the drivers on the Clevo website and can't access the drivers from Pc Specialist as I didn't buy the laptop directly from them. If any of you could advise me as to where I could find the required drivers, or tell if something else would be causing this with my laptop, I would be very grateful!

Thanks, Lewis :)

P.S. Laptop specs (if it makes any difference): Lafite III, Clevo N131BU, Intel i7-7500U, 32GB Corsair Ram, 250GB Samsung 970 Evo SSD.

I’ve just had a look on clevo and can find the model but no separate entry for usb c, so I would have thought it would be included in the chipset driver.

When you say it doesn’t work, does it not register the device at all?

Hi,

Thanks for looking. I tried installing all of the drivers, including chipset, earlier from the Clevo website with no success. And for your second question, no, it doesn't register anything that gets plugged in. I have just checked again and it seems as though there is no power being output either. This is now making me wonder if it could be a physical issue. I am not too bothered if I can't get it working as I have alternatives to the USB C port but would have liked to have everything functioning as it should! I might take it to someone to have a look at if I can't find anything else here.

Thanks again, Lewis

Make sure you have control center installed, that's like a master driver that won't be installed by windows update, which ties into all the other drivers. I guess it's possible that the USB C is turned on off via that, but very unlikely.

Generally with Windows 10 and laptops the Windows Update process finds and installs all necessary drivers. I would suggest that you download a copy of Windows 10 and do a clean install by booting that installation media. Once Windows is installed run Windows Update repeatedly until no more updates are found. That should install every driver you need (except Control Center which you'll have to install yourself).
