Hello,

have my new laptop for a couple weeks, never used the LAN port, until today.
want to do some network configurations at home.
But when plugged RJ45 cable into laptop (wifi off) no connection!
I tried following:
- windows network troubleshooter
- sfc & dism
- remove driver with Revo software, restart, then fresh instal, Realtek gigabit controller appears!

then after one hour or so, opening the control panel - network and internet - network connection adapters:
in front of me, after couple seconds Realtek controller disappears!
i have never seen this...

Can someone help me on this one?

Is this a pcspecialist system? Can you post your full specs from the order page?

Do you have a VPN installed, and is it blocking your connection, or have you configured it to specifically allow that port through it?

I have added specs in the signature, hope it gives u enough info, else let me know;)
I have installed VPN services, but left it complete on default settings (using it for almost 5 years now). This is first laptop/pc in my carreer facing this problem.

Did you clean install your own windows, or are you using the test version that the laptop came with?

So firstly, fully disable your VPN, even on default settings they can often have a Network Lock or Kill switch configured by default

Secondly, do you have the Killer control panel installed? If so, fully uninstall it, it's absolutely dreadful at the best of times.

Then delete the adapter in device manager and reboot on wifi for it to reinstall the correct driver.

Then try connecting the LAN again and disable wifi, see if it's any better.

I added W11 pro key, and updated is to 22H2.
disabled all other network addapters beside wifi, bluetooth and the Realtek gigabit controller.
excluded even vpn software from auto startup.
Then try to delete killer software with Revo software (even twice! installed itself apparently again annoing sh**)
downloaded driver from internet and installed fresh, again it appeard some time. Tried to update via device manager, but get notice "device is up to date".
after some time controller disapears again...

get this notice from Windows Event Manager:
Device PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8125&SUBSYS_12741D05&REV_05\01000000684CE00000 had a problem starting.

You'd need to clean install your own windows from scratch, the test windows version isn't configured properly.

Leave out the killer software entirely and don't install any AV, just normal drivers through windows optional updates, and graphics driver from Nvidia. And don't install your VPN just for testing.

Don't install any other software and test the LAN connection.

I'm not going to try to sway you, but it's not configured properly, it's up to you how you proceed. But it's not worth my time troubleshooting on an unstable platform.

You ordered without windows, you can't use the test windows and have a stable system. Just doesn't work that way.

Part of the cost of ordering with windows is the installation and configuration, they're not just gonna do that for free for you.

When you buy a laptop without an operating system then you MUST expect to install your own OS. Why would you trust an OS that you happen to find lying around on the drive? Just because it looks like Windows doesn't mean it's a fully-fledged and configured system. Many (most?) people who activate the testing system that PCS put on there to stress test it, end up having issues.

I had now idea of this (no mention of pc specialist like: Test windows installed, u must instal own operating system) or something similar...
SOLVED: Just installed new OS, LAN port is working just fine!
Thanks all for the help!

PCS claim that their test OS is fully functional, but the experience of a great many users just like you shows that this is just not true.
