Laptop for CAD, 3D & Rendering

Hello,

I'm thinking of getting either the Ionico or Recoil 15.6" for my work which is mostly with AutoCAD, Rhino, V-Ray & Blender. My old laptop is VERY old (a 7 year old Lenovo Z50) so obviously, rendering the smallest stuff takes an eternity. I'm looking at these specs but there's a couple things I'm a bit worried about. I have to carry the laptop up and down sometimes many times in the day so I don't want it to be incredibly heavy or fragile - both Ionico & Recoil are aroud 2kg with Ionico being lighter, what's the advantage of Recoil other than the larger battery?

And then when I'm in the office I'm surrounded by people, does anyone know if the fans get very loud very quickly?

Ideally I want to spend less than 2000. Any help appreciated!

Hello,
Some questions before giving you some advices ^^
Do you really need 64 go of ram ?
Will the laptop be plugged or will you use it on battery ?
Will you use only the laptop screen or external screen as well ?

About your config', there is some thing that really need to be changed anyway (the SSD that are just "meh", removing bullguard, taking the golden warranty and the dead piwel warranty, and going for win10 instead of win11)
This would up your budget to 2100 ish for the ionico

If you actually need the full 64 GB RAM , I`d suggest to buy them separate from the laptop, as the Ryzen 9 gives a healthy performance boost with SODIMM rated at 3200 Mhz . So order the laptop with the least amount of ram and then install the other kit yourself.
I would also skip Bullguard as it gives more issues than it resolves , and as @Tron1982 suggested, improve the warranty .... it will pay for itself should there be an issue along the road .

Hi! Thanks for that. I forgot to take out the Bullguard, good to know about the SSDs

I don’t actually need 64gb of RAM, 32gb would be enough for my current workload.

I would use it mostly plugged but need some independence to work with the battery from time to time. 3 hours battery would probably be enough for me.

In the office I have a second screen but I have to move around a lot so I would say 50% with screen and 50 on its own.

My partner has a Scan laptop similar to the Destian and it’s way too heavy for what I need unfortunately.

Thanks @KriSta I think I’ll go with 32gb ram. Regarding warranty I have to get in touch with pcs cos I might be moving countries in a year so thats why I was thinking of the silver warranty over gold.
