Hello everyone!

Hope everyone has had a good time over the festive season (and is continuing to have a good time!).

My dad is after a new 14” laptop for office/web browsing. He is looking at the Lafite 14” laptop and has a budget of around £500-600 but would be willing to pay a little more if it was worth it.

He is really just looking for a laptop which won’t be slow when browsing the web or generally in use (I figure any newer laptop would fit that particular bill)

He created the below spec, any advice or thoughts on the below? Is it good enough or is nothing in this budget going to really be sufficient?

Any comments and feedback would be appreciated.

That Pentium is 2-core and 2 threads. Which is a bit low-ball even for the uses you're describing. Google Chrome can have CPU spikes when opening tabs, certainly with an addon or two, on my i5 8250U (4C, 8T, higher clocks)

To be honest, you are probably best off finding something with a quad core CPU by Intel or one of the Ryzen AMD ones off the shelf, perhaps there are some post Xmas sales. Can probably get beefier hardware for cheaper.

If he has ~£130 more, and really loves the chassis (while the hardware matters I suppose the tactile experience matters too) perhaps the Lafite with the i5.

Also rather than the SU630 from the 1st Storage Drive menu, perhaps the 256gb SX6000 from the M.2 menu for ~£10 more? As well as being faster, the fact it sits in the M.2 slot keeps the 2.5" open for a cheaper mass storage option down the line.
