Hi there, I would strongly recommend a Quadro card for CAD applications. I use Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD here at work on a Quadro (currently an M4000, Soon to be RTX 4000) For me the performance from CAD software always favors Quadro cards.

There are a few good videos on YouTube that explain the benefits fairly well.

That may be your experience but it's not universally true by any stretch.

Geforce GPUs can offer vastly more performance per £. Quadro GPUs have different drivers and different support, which is why they are often recommended by PC vendors. There can also be differences between Quadro and Geforce for things like 10-bit monitor support.

There are plenty of people running Revit on RTX / GTX GPUs (Geforce)

It may depend on your workloads, but be wary of shelling out hundreds if not thousands more for an equivalent Quadro card.

@Oussebon I completely agree in what you've said, Lot's of different CAD applications out there that may not benefit form a Quadro card, from personal experience a lower spec Quadro can outperform a higher spec gaming card with certain workloads.

For more complex assemblies i would always favor Quadro cards, for simple parts & assemblies (such as i do at home) i would agree with your points above... I have a laptop with 1060 and it's generally fine with the smaller jobs.

Thanks all for your input.
95% of my time is spent modelling in Revit with only about 5% is spent on Rendering.
My current PC uses a GTX card and only struggles when I'm using multiple "point clouds" in a project.
It is slower when I render a view from the model, but I can accept that to save a bit of cash.
I do need my new system to be a laptop to take to site and client meetings. Thanks again.

I did not purchase that laptop, but have purchased an updated version of it a few weeks ago.
It works fine with Revit and has a RTX 3060 graphics card.
