Laptop for some lite gaming and amateur music recording

Hey all, been a while since I last posted in these forums but I'm back needing a new rig and I'm just as clueless as back then!

I'm looking to get rid of my old uni laptop and my current desktop which takes up too much room and I just don't use all that often anymore and replace them with a new laptop.

I will be using this laptop for general office and day-to-day use as well as some gaming (mainly total war strategy games and football manager with the odd indie game thrown in) and some music recording (guitar and bass).

Should I be looking at a good cpu and ram for this type of thing? There's that many options available on the site and it's a bit overwhelming!

My budget for the time being is probably around the 1000-1200 pounds mark.

Thanks in advance! :)
