Laptop not detecting TV via HDMI

Hi,

Had my laptop for about a month and it's been brilliant. But...

First time in a hotel and I tried to connect via HDMI cable and it doesn't detect the TV. Tried it with my work laptop and the same cable and that works fine.

Clicked on "Detect" under the display settings, but nothing.

Any suggestions? Or do I need to go back to PCSpecialist?

Are you on windows 10 or 11?

You need to fully uninstall Bullguard if you haven't already.

Windows 10. What's the issue with Bullguard?
It's known to cause various issues including network issues and BSODs. Even without those issues, it's a poor virus scanner anyway. Windows defender is far better.

Can you try the laptop in your TV at home with the same HDMI cable?

Not tonight, I'm at a hotel, but its worked fine with the same HDMI cable and my work laptop. Haven't tried at home, because I always cast
