I have just received this laptop today and I am experiencing unexpected shutdowns and immediate reboots whilst gaming. I got everything setup and started gaming on it and get about half an hour in and the machine just reboots. I have installed SpeedFan to get an idea on temps and am hitting mid 90s on the CPU at times and have seen a max 100 at one point and the GPU I have seen 85-90.

The laptop is lying flat with no obstructions to vents and I have turned the fans on full via the Gaming Center application that came pre-installed yet it still happens.

Any advice of what I can do would be helpful.

The BSOD Doctor
If it was overheating I would expect it to shutdown and stay shutdown, the fact that it reboots indicates a software issue.

Windows is configured (by default) to auto restart if a 'system error' occurs. Basically a system error is something that's not trapped by the normal error routines but isn't running privileged so a BSOD is not necessary, instead Windows auto-restarts. There may be a dump either in the folder C:\Windows\Minidumps or in the file C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. If you have a dump, upload it to the cloud somewhere and post a link to it here, we'll gladly take a look at it for you.

The first thing to do is to run Windows Update repeatedly until no more updates are found. This issue could be fixed by a driver update or by a stability update, so be sure Windows is up to date.

Much of the time these kinds of errors are caused by third party code that runs at startup and stays in the background, so take a look at the Task Manager Startup tab and see what's starting with Windows. I would disable all those things that you can do without temporarily and reboot - then try to make Windows fail again.

If it's not a startup program the next most likely is a driver. If you updated any drivers manually then try rolling back that driver update. Since the issue happens in-game the graphics driver is immediately suspect.

If it happens in one particular game then take a look at the forum for that game, it may be a known issue.

Hi, I have this exact laptop. After installing Windows you need to run Windows Update - and this should take a while! Then you need to get Geforce Experience and update the Nvidia drivers that way. I have also installed all the Radeon Software for the APU (which allows you to stop auto dimming and improve the display)
As mentioned previously - it is a driver problem and simply needs a full update.
As a point of reference, I find the laptop performs extremely well, the 2060 RTX allows 60+FPS in Battlefiled 5 with RTX on! It isn't that far behind the 2070 (which I have in the Recoil 3 laptop).
