Hi

I got a custom build laptop with specs i7 10th gen rtx 2060 32gb ram. It is really slow lagging, low fps cannot do anything. Did all the updates, all drivers are up to date too. Any ideas whats wrong? it is even lagging while doing simple tasks like opening task manager takes forever.

i think i found the problem. my disc was at 100% usage and i think thats what was causing the problem. I just had to turn off a program responsible for checking fan speeds and temperatures that came installed with a laptop.

Can you post the full specs from your order please?

Did you buy a copy of Windows with it or did you install your own?

Which of the two drives runs at 100% usage?
Can you post a screen shot of the Resource Monitor disk tab please with the 100% disk problem happening?

The solution to your problem is not to disable Gaming Center - you probably need it - but to find out WHY it seems to be causing 100% disk usage.

The windows was already instaled with the laptop. The 1st drive from specs runs at 100% usage with that gaming centre on. It it strange that as soon as i turn it off the usage drops to 0%. I will provide screenshot later

So it's the hard drive that is 100% active?

I assume Windows is installed on the SSD?

I'd really like to see that Resource Monitor screenshot.

You could try reinstalling gaming centre, but closing it completely might make you lose control over fans, keyboard led and performance profiles, not to mention that I'm actually not sure what will happen with the fan behaviour, if they will still work as expected.

If windows is installed on the HDD, I think it's quite "normal" behaviour having it at 100%, especially on the first few days after windows is installed. There are things that windows does that are disk consuming on slow drives, like search indexing.

It will definitely improve if windows is installed on the SSD, even though 128Gb is quite small.

I think probably the first thing to do would be to install a fresh copy of windows. I have heard of a lot of people(myself included) having odd issues because of using the windows installation the laptop came with instead of doing a fresh one. Also this will give you the opportunity to install everything yourself so you are in full control over your laptop and know what is installed where. The windows version that comes with the laptop is installed for testing so sometimes you will be missing features, have odd update issues or performance issues.

Make sure that your windows is installed on the SSD. The HDD( I had the same one) will struggle if both windows&apps are running of it, but it will work well if you are running windows off the SSD
Also I would download the latest drivers directly from Clevo, PC's driver section is outdated most of the time. Here is the link to clevo's page: https://www.clevo.com.tw/index-en.asp .
Now for the life of me I can't find which clevo model you laptop is. You can find that out by going to your windows search bar and running dxdiag. The system model on the System information tab should be your clevo model.

I am certain that doing all of these should fix your issue, but, If you are certain that the clevo control center is the issue then you can start by uninstalling it and see if that solves the problem. There is no danger in doing that as the fans will still work using the default fan curve. If you issue is fixed then I would just grab the newest version of the clevo control center from the clevo website and installing that one.

Also worth noting, as Fevieira mentioned that, windows will take a while to configure it self properly after a fresh install. The time it takes depends on your internet connection speed and the processing power of your laptop/hard drives. What you can do is just let your laptop turned on when you are not using it just to let it configure itself.

The system is installed on SSD and it has just few % of usage. I have uninstalled the gaming centre it at the moment. The HDD was constantly using 100% usage straight after start. I will try to reinstall the gaming centre first and see what happens.

So far the fans are working fine keeping good temperatures. Also next to the power button i have a button that changes the speed of the fans if necessary, exactly as the gaming centre did.

Thanks for all your answers i will keep you updated.

You see because you didn’t post your full specs we’re having to shoot blind... makes it much harder.

Did you order with windows or without?

Where are you getting gaming center from when you reinstall it?

Did you manually uninstall Bullguard? What AV are you using?

Are you sure that the button still works when you force close the gaming center service? From what I know, that service is responsible for checking temperatures and adjust the fans accordingly
