Although happy with my previous PCSECIALIST laptop, I have always been disappointed in the sound quality. My current laptop-speakers spec is "2 inbuilt speakers", would I be correct in thinking the where a specification states 2 x 2-watt speakers, these are of better quality?

That’s the on board speakers, they’re a 2 watt rating. No laptop is going to have good speakers, there’s just not enough room to put them.

You’ll always need external speakers or headphones.

Thank you. I was wondering as the sound on my Windows Surface is really good; an order of magnitude better than my PCSPECIALIST laptop.

TBH I don't think many laptop chassis manufacturers put much effort into the speakers. They know that most buyers expect them to be rubbish in any case. It's a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy.....
